Summary

Numbers rule Dr. Mei Sharpe’s life. She has no husband, one friend, two daughters, and three random meetings with the same woman within four weeks. Once is chance, twice is coincidence, but upon the third meeting, even Mei in all her empirical rigidness must admit that perhaps the universe is giving her a nudge. A nudge that lands her directly in the path of Lieutenant Morgan Kelly—an affable, charming detective for the Sheriff Department’s brand-new cold case team working down the hall from Mei’s morgue.

More golden retriever than hard-boiled detective, Morgan is determined to pull the asocial widow out of her shell. As the icy scientist warms to her cheerful new friend, an irrepressible chemistry develops, and Mei begins to realize she’s perhaps a different number on the Kinsey scale than previously considered.

As Mei and Morgan struggle with guilt and grief, drama and desires, Mei finds her scientific austerity is no match for the universe and its nudges toward the startling revelation of what her heart really wants.

This was a pleasure

This age gap WLW book was a pleasure to listen to. The MC are so good, and the story is well written.
Narrating was so wonderful.

Really good!

I enjoyed it immensely. I would have liked a little more time with Mei's friend, but over all well done. Unlike a lot of LesRom, this story didn't get too sanctimonious except in the usual "white people this or that" comments. Could do without the commentary. Great read and great narration.

WONDERFUL!

I haven't even finished this yet but I felt compelled to post a review. I've been slogging through mediocre stories with abysmal narrators (what's up with that anyway? I cannot listen to a bad narrator - the voice may be fine, but jeezus they cannot read to save their lives! Who hires these people? So many titles I've purchased that are languishing in my digital library because I can't get past the first few paragraphs without my ears starting to bleed!) That's not the case with this one. Writing is intelligent and witty, characters interesting, and the narrator is a pro. Buy this one - you won't regret it.
Thank you Mses. O'Shea and Kay, for rescuing me!

Great story. AMAZING narrator.

First time reading this author and hearing this narrator. Both were great. Tbh, I would listen to Cindy Kay read me the phone book. She definitely got these characters. Her voice was like a comfy sweater on an autumn day. I need more!

Good, but....

I enjoyed parts of it, the narrator was EXCELLENT.
The plot/story was believable, good characters and character development. My issue was with the details. There were quite a few missing, no idea where story takes place...no details of everyday life. There were chapters that just ended abruptly, then the next chapter started 2 months later.
Overall I liked the growth of the two MC, especially the emotional growth. This book was touching and addressed real life stuff. I'll keep an eye out for additional books from this author.
