Story
Aunt Bessie assumes that she'll have the beach all to herself on a cold, wet, and windy March morning just after sunrise, then she stumbles (almost literally) over a dead body. Aunt Bessie assumes that the dead man died of natural causes, then the police find the knife in his chest. Try as she might, Bessie just can't find anything to like about the young widow that she provides tea and sympathy to in the immediate aftermath of finding the body. There isn't much to like about the rest of the victim's family either.

Story
Across the bottom of the screen the ticker tape announced in large black letters 'Governor Reynolds Murdered'. Apparently his body had been discovered earlier that morning, lying in his garage. He had been shot twice. One shot to the upper chest, the other hitting his shoulder. 'Police believe that the weapon used was a 38 revolver,' the reporter said. Kendall froze. Anthony Shaw had also been killed by a 38 calibre bullet. Kendall was not quite sure of what it all meant. What connection was there between Anthony Shaw, and the State Governor, and the business mogul, Ian Duncan. And what about Senator Mackenzie? Where did he fit in? And who or what was Latimer?

Summary
Aunt Bessie considers it an honor to be giving a presentation about her research at a conference at the Manx Museum.
Miss Elizabeth Cubbon is known as "Aunt Bessie" to nearly everyone in her hometown of Laxey. While she never earned a college degree, she's become something of an expert in the history of the island that she's called home for all of her adult life. Once she turned 60, she stopped counting how many years that included.
Aunt Bessie considers it unfair when the entire conference schedule is thrown into disarray by Mack Dickson's sudden arrival.
Mack promises that what he has to say is important enough to warrant the upheaval. But even more turmoil follows when Bessie discovers Mack's body only a short time after he's finished giving his speech.
Aunt Bessie considers Police Inspector Peter Corkill a poor substitute for her friend, John Rockwell.
But the Manx Museum is out of Rockwell's jurisdiction and that means Corkill is in charge of the investigation, no matter what Bessie thinks. With Corkill insisting that Mack's death was probably an unfortunate accident, Mack's slides that shocked the conference disappear. Bessie finds herself drawn into another investigation, and she's determined to drag her friends, Rockwell, Doona, and Hugh, in with her.
This is the third book in the Isle of Man Cozy Mystery Series.

Nice continuation of series with great narration
Aunt Bessie and her friends are brought to life once again in this third installment of a delightful cozy mystery series set in the Isle of Man. With a whole cast of characters from different regions each given their own distinct voice, the narrator does a wonderful job of transporting the listener into the various scenes. Writing and characterizations are clean and crisp. A great listen!

I'd have to go back and listen to book #2 to be sure but it seems to me the narrator has improved and the story was certainly the best so far. It was so good that I tried, unsuccessfully, to buy the next in line on my Kindle. Gonna go do that right now.

Worst Southern accent ever!
I realize Americans are bad imitators of British accents, but if you are one of the few U.K. actors who cannot do an American accent, then don't.
