About this listen

Can an astral dragon stop an eldritch god of planetary destruction?

With an uninvited new crew member aboard, Dorian and the crew of the Dragon's Wing set a course for Sphere. Once there, it's not business as usual, exactly. Dorian finds himself making friends and enemies alike as he investigates some strange happenings. How is the Imperium involved? Are they? And just who is behind this strange cult?

But when Dorian catches wind of a conspiracy on a planetwide scale involving a similar entity to the one that ripped Fable's world away from her, things get serious very quickly. Is it too late for him and the women of his crew to intervene? Will their new allies be able to aid them in their mission? Will Dorian be able to reconnect with his origins in time?

...And why's everyone talking about marriage all of a sudden?

I'm torn as I really love this seriesls. the book is well performed, the story is pretty right and the characters are great. but it's because of that they I have a little melancholy - this book feels like a speedrun to finish the series, with so many threads tied up at once. the harem doubles in size and none of the new girls get any realtime to develop, especially one. we get an "they fell in love" during the epilogue!

this feels like it should have been book 5 with a couple more stories laying the groundwork for the cult, for the eleven imperial relationship and for Dorian discovering his legacy some more. I can see the challenge in fleshing that all out, but here it feels oddly crammed together. still, a recommended listen because the narrators are great and the world and characters are brilliant.

good story, but a bit rushed

Excellent voice work as usual, and the story escalates to the eldritch horror levels, and for a power fantasy it’s great, but it does suffer from appearing too easy and clean, as we’re not really given a power comparison. Maybe a little more story and world building would have been better to set the stage, as it just feels more rushed to wrap everything up.
Still it’s a great little power fantasy, and I’m glad I listened to it

Neatly wrapped up power fantasy
