Summary
Contains Books 1 and 2 of the Ascension Gate series.
A gateway to the stars. A colonization mission gone wrong.
The Marines hold the fate of our universe in their hands.
It was supposed to be a peaceful exploration, Earth's first step in expanding to the stars. But, no plan survives first contact. Thrown into a battle for survival against the deadliest threats imaginable, the Marines must contend with ice and desert planets with mysterious creatures, along with a history of turmoil that threatens to spill over to Earth if not checked.
Meanwhile, a genetically-engineered threat rises on Earth - one that holds the secret to this intergalactic war.
Will our heroes in space survive long enough to make a difference? Can Earth's forces solve the mystery and put the pieces together in time?
They damn well better hurry, or an ancient, long-forgotten enemy will gain an unassailable foothold in their control of the universe and all within.

extremely enjoyable
I'm very picky about books. The littlest detail can toss a book off course for me. This book has been great and reminds me a lot of the show Stargate which I loved.
keep up the great work

Great book
I was hooked right away. Great mix of sci-fi and fantasy. I am a loyal audible listener and cannot wait for the next group of books. Well worth the credit!!!!

Outstanding
The books were all the things I look for in this genre, engrossing, story lines, well narrated and leaving me wanting the story to continue. Well done by all.

Couldn't Get Through It
Too many fantasy elements shoe-horned into one story with so-so characters and subpar plot.

A solid No
I'm glad that this book was free and that I didn't use credits I read the reviews and tried to give it a shot anyway. At chapter 5 I still didn't know what i was listening to. I don't know I just got finished listening to all of Nathan Lowell's And maybe I'm jaded because those were great and I expected to find something to fall behind it But this is a no all around no solid story line that you can follow . No Solid character personalities Just a solid no.

had to double check tags
went back and double checked tags for "adult" didn't see any.
am 3 hours in and extremely disappointed.
EVERY character and side character is a horn dog who will sleep with first come first serve.
and everyone is the same personality, seriously if they did not use names you would not know who is who...
if author/Amazon reads this please put "adult" tags on stories like this, is like 80% talking about who wants to screw who and 20% sci Fi...

To basic
Characters have no depth and do not react in the way people would react in such a intense situation.

Wasted potential
Dear lord…. Narration is great. Story has promise but is ultimately a chaotic mess. Multiple storylines that are confusing at best. It becomes very difficult very quickly to differentiate between characters. You jump into action that is confusing and partially nonsensical due to a lack of world building that could be excused if there is some back explanation later but it never comes.
