About this listen
As a Man Thinketh is a literary essay by James Allen, published in 1902. The title is influenced by a verse in the Bible from the Book of Proverbs, Chapter 23, Verse 7: "As a man thinketh in his heart, so is he." The full passage, taken from the King James Version, is as follows: "Eat thou not the bread of him that hath an evil eye, neither desire thou his dainty meats: For as he thinketh in his heart, so is he: Eat and drink, saith he to thee; but his heart is not with thee. The morsel which thou hast eaten shalt thou vomit up, and lose thy sweet words." Here are some quotes from the book:

Very modern in it's conception.
What did you like most about As a Man Thinketh?
What I liked most about this book it that it has a very strong Christian and bible based heart to it. I liked the chapter on the connection to how we think and the effects this has on our health.
Have you listened to any of the narrator’s other performances? How does this one compare?
Narrator was excellent.
Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?
I listened to it in one sitting because it is quite a short book.
Any additional comments?
This book is really the first self-help book that focuses on positive thinking. A lot of books have been published in the 20th Century on self help but this is the oldest such book and it was published in the 19th Century.
