Summary

Anti-Oculus is a psychedelic trip through the eyes of power, exploring avenues of escaping systems of control in our cyberpunk reality.

Anti-Oculus is a work of conceptual espionage: an assemblage of polemical tracts. Through the concept of "Ocularity", the Acid Horizon crew traces the political, medical, and historical ways power sees us through its categories of control and counter-insurgency.

From the thermodynamics of policing in the cyberpunk present, to the psychiatric colonization of the image, to bodies that "go astray" in an increasingly reactionary society, Anti-Oculus maps out the ways we are captured under the eyes of cyber-capital and provokes us to find each other in pursuit of emancipation, community, and new forms of life.

vectors of escape, runaway arteries, unwinding tapestries

"The mediator between head and hands must be the heart" is the prevailing message of Fritz Lang's Metropolis, written by von Habou. The class collaborationist message garnered the admiration of the highest nazi leadership and holds sway over liberal intelligentsia today. Hitler, identifying himself with the failson protagonist Freder, saw himself as such a mediator. Of course this is all bigger than a singular figure. The cybernetic society came to block, mediate and redirect the emancipatory flood.

Anti-Oculus is a thorough attack on The Heart, Ocularity, the organizing organ, whose function is to regulate the flows of capital and life. What body are we in? What is this rough beast we inhabit, whose bureaucratic labyrinthine innards we circulate in order to survive, which humiliate us day by day? Anti-Oculus is an account of how escape from such a labyrinth is possible. It stirs the soul into action like the best radical works. It gives D&G, Tiqqun, Culp.

5/5 plus will's narration is so dreamy
