Pretty Paul likes to spend his spare time at his Heavy Petting Zoo, where he teaches blind children the art of chainsaw sculpture and sending get-well cards to everyone in the obituary column. These outrageous Appalachian aphorisms prove that no proclivity is too profane, preposterous, or depraved for the self-described "schizophrenic, dyslexic transsexual with Alzheimer’s". In a rare moment of clarity, Parsons offers up some clues as to the nature of his mindset, telling audiences, "I’m glad to say I never did abuse drugs. They did abuse the s*** out of me though". Combining Parson’s stand up sets with more, well, intimate studio recordings, An American Tragedy is sure to delight and disturb.
