Summary

From #1 New York Times bestselling author Jamie McGuire comes a riveting tale of first love that starts young but runs deep.

The first time Elliott Youngblood spots Catherine Calhoun, he’s just a boy with a camera, and he’s never seen a sadder and more beautiful sight. Both Elliott and Catherine feel like outcasts, yet they find an easy friendship with each other. But when Catherine needs him most, Elliott is forced to leave town.

Elliott finally returns, but he and Catherine are now different people. He’s a star high school athlete, and she spends all her free time working at her mother’s mysterious bed-and-breakfast. Catherine hasn’t forgiven Elliott for abandoning her, but he’s determined to win back her friendship...and her heart.

Just when Catherine is ready to fully trust Elliott, he becomes the prime suspect in a local tragedy. Despite the town’s growing suspicions, Catherine clings to her love for Elliott. But a devastating secret that Catherine has buried could destroy whatever chance of happiness they have left.

Well I didn’t see that coming

Brilliant just brilliant.

My headset was consistently in. Couldn’t stop at just one chapter. So easy to listen too. What a twist!

Well i certainly didn't see that one coming in this one!

All the Little Lights is a YA book with a cracking little twist in it, the book is based around Catherine and Elliot.

Friends since they were young children, Catherine and Elliot spent every minute they could together, walking and talking, and Elliot taking pictures with his camera that he seems to be surgically attached to.

They were very sweet together, and they made plans to travel the world together when they grow up.....except that doesn't happen, Elliot's mother hates the town, and the people in it, she grew up there and was bullied because of her heritage, her family are Cherokee and she was not made welcome in the town.

She doesn't want this happening to her son (even though he's quite popular) so she literally drags Elliot to the car one day and takes him away, the thing is that she doesn't give him a chance to say goodbye, and on this particular day Catherine really needs him.

With no access to phones and his father taking away his car, Elliot has no way of getting in touch with Catherine to apologise, and it stays this way for 2 years!

In the meantime Catherine is helping her Mother keep their guesthouse in shape by working herself to near exhaustion with the cleaning / cooking etc, as well as keeping up with her schoolwork.
The guests are very "in-your-face" and won't hardly leave her alone, and some of them downright scare her.

Catherine has never forgiven Elliot for leaving her, so when he shows up out-of- the-blue asking for forgiveness she has to make a decision on whether she wants to spend time with him, or help out at the guesthouse where her mother is slipping into a more depressed state.

In the middle of this story pops up another one, a girl in Catherine's class goes missing, and the finger seems to be pointing in Elliot's direction.......

With a twist that i actually didn't see coming for a change, i thoroughly enjoyed this book.

The reason why i didn't 5 star it, is because it was very lengthy, there was a lot of mundane information that i feel could have been skipped that wouldn't have impacted the story at all, and still kept me interested.

🎧🎧 Narrated by 2 new narrators for me Karissa Vacker and Darrell Dennis, both did a great job but i think Karrissa may have stolen the show on this one, she was excellent.

Happy listening

I kind of guessed the big twist about half way through...very long and drawn out if im being really honest.
