Summary
First published in 1865, Lewis Carroll's endearing tales of an imaginative child's dream world are written with charming simplicity.
While delighting children with a heroine who represents their own thoughts and feelings about growing up, the tale is appreciated by adults as a gentle satire on education, politics, literature, and Victorian life in general.
All the delightful and bizarre inhabitants of Wonderland are here: the White Rabbit and the Cheshire Cat, the hooka-smoking Caterpillar and the Mad Hatter, the March Hare and the Ugly Duchess... and, of course, Alice herself - growing alternately taller and smaller, attending demented tea parties and eccentric croquet games, and observing everything with clarity and rational amazement.
These novels are part of Brilliance Audio's extensive Classic Collection, bringing you timeless masterpieces that you and your family are sure to love.

Wonderful escapism into a memory of childhood
Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?
Yes, very much so.
The narration is superb. The story is so well known and at the same time full of surprises. I defy anyone not to enjoy this classic.
Who was your favorite character and why?
I like all of the characters for many different reasons. Some characters remind me of people I know, and other characters remind me of some of the absurd politicians that inhabit our governments.
What does Michael Page bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you had only read the book?
His characterisation of the content isn't greatly removed from my own visualisation of who and how the characters would be.
Did you have an emotional reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?
I had the same feelings that I remembered having when I read this book as a child. Even through adult eyes (ears) it was still able to evoke feeling of fear, wonder, laughter and, at times, sadness.
Any additional comments?
I had forgotten just how wonderful this story is.
The politics, that I would not have been aware of when I read it as a child, are timeless and still so relevant to today.

A very good reading of a Classic book
Where does Alice's Adventures in Wonderland and Through the Looking Glass rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?
This is a story I thought I should listen to as it is a well-loved Classic. It is not among my favourite books but is funny, inventive and very well read by Michael Page.
Any additional comments?
Michael Page is a great choice for this very fanciful book. I first listened to Alice in Wonderland as an adult and I was impressed with Michael Page. He doesn't patronise the reader but helps them imagine the wonderful world that Alice finds herself in. I will be relistening when I want to escape into Wonderland. Having the same reader for Alice in Wonderland and Alice Through the Looking Glass helped keep the continuity going and worked very well.

dreams...
A little like the uncomfortable feelings left over by a dream.
Alice in Wonderland is a little easier to follow as we were familiar with the story from Disney and abridged children's versions, but thru the Looking Glass was a bit more of a struggle.

Background Noise in some chapters
There is a lot of background noise and what sounds like chatter in the background during some of the middle chapters of Wonderland. It’s really annoying.

My favorite reading of my favorite children's book
I first listened to this audio book on cassette as a child, and went out of my way to find this recording as an adult. It never gets old to me. Wonderful reading.

Classic stories, Excellent Narration!
What is there to say about the story? Of course, it's a classic of fanciful adventures that remains unchanged. The narrator here was excellent, bringing the voices and characters to life with ease. Very enjoyable performance.

Excellent narration of such good stories.
Many years ago I listened to this specific recording on cassette and enjoyed it then. After joining audible, I tried various other narrators and stumbled upon Michael Page again. His performance is the winner for me! Not only does he bring the different characters to life, he also captures the humor of these classics very well.

Narration is great! Sound qualtiy is not!
This is a great narration of a classic story. I wanted to listen to it all the way through, but the noise in the background made it impossible to pay attention. It's an echo of the narration and there is a lag to it. It really ruins the experience of a great story and narration!

I can say I read it.
I'm late to this party. This is the first time I've ever read Lewis Carroll. I've seen all the cartoon and tv adaptations, but the original hasn't been on my list until recently. This isn't really a kids book. My expectations are tainted, of course, but I was underwhelmed. Tick the box and call it done.

Horrible
The story isn't that bad, but the reading of it is horrible. I never could get into the book. unfortunately I let it sit to long so I can't return it.
