About this listen

Drifted a bit from original.
This begins as a biography of Hitler, but becomes distracted by the larger story of the war. As a result, while we know Hitler shot himself in his bunker, having married Eva Braun, we know nothing of his history with the other women in his life, nothing of his health problems or his various addictions and the false doctor who created them, and nothing at all of the terrible struggle he went through admitting to himself that all was lost. Covering these things would have kept this a biography and would not have taken any more space than the history of the war that it fell into.

It should be read by everyone!
If you curious as to how this cruel man rose to such great power and commit the world's greatest genocide then this is a must read for you! I found it very interesting how life set him up for this horrible "success." Everything from prison, to anti semitic groups contributed to his warped mind. Evil can spread so rampantly that why it is so important for us to learn from history as to not repeat it! As Simon Wiesenthal said "For evil to flourish, it only requires good men to do nothing!" This is a simple book that should be read by everyone!

Compact book about Hitler.
It was so interesting to see the progression from Hitler being a child through to ultimately the monster he became. I had never thought of Hitler in that respect. When hearing of someone committing heinous acts, it is tough to imagine them coming into the world as an innocent baby and then turning out to be so horrible.

The book is a worthwhile read.
I was hoping for more of his personal life, how he became a monster. Clearly, Hitler had to have been a narcissistic sociopath to go the lengths he had gone. I was hoping this book would have shone more light on his behaviors than the historical accounts. The writing was superb. Great writing but I think the author could have done more. Even still a better book.
