Dangerous, tragic, but ultimately uplifting.

What other book might you compare A Million Little Pieces to, and why?

it definitely has similarities to Ken Kesey's one flew over the cuckoo's nest. Our protagonist, James US well and truly caught up in the 'combine', but fortunately he survives his situation.

What about Tim Flavin’s performance did you like?

Not the best, but he does bring James' plight out through his performance. Which is what he's there to do.

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

The growing tragedy between James and Lily is heartbreaking.

I’d read the stuff about how this is more of a novel than a memoir and decided to treat it as such. It took me a little while to get used to the tempo of the writing, but I found I liked it and I enjoyed the whole story. It’s written in the style of urban poetry in places, with lots of repetition and descriptive text. It’s thought provoking and offers an -albeit fluffed up- insight into the story of addiction.

I enjoyed this because it's personal and seemingly extremely honest. a fantastic example of the power of human will regardless of the struggle. this man experienced a hellish state of being from such a young age. this is both inspirational and humbling. thank you James, thank you for your struggles and thank you for healing yourself.

I enjoyed this story - was a little disheartened by the opening as the statement had me questioning the validity of the book thought.

the performance at times was frustratingly flat and I did consider stopping

I wasn't too sure to start with, i wasn't too sure on the narrator, they can make or break the story but pretty soon i was hooked. An amazing tale, i understand that not all was true, however i am sure that is does not mis-represent in any way.
it is truly inspirational, I am not an addict but it certainly made me view life a little differently!

I know there's controversy about how much of the book is true, but if even half of it is, then it's was a tough life. all self inflicted and I found it hard to have any remorse for the main character. but he explains his thoughts and feelings well and is a good advert to stay sober.

it is a shame that Frey often refers to the importance of truth in this book when this story is largely untrue. The reader did truthfully do a fantastic job.

Dont believe all the bs reviews this book kicks ass. It took balls, experience and emotion only possibly through a vile and unforgiving journey. The author delivers blow after blow of insight into his amazing recovery
