About this listen
IF YOU'RE HOOKED ON THE TRAITORS, YOU WON'T WANT TO MISS A GAME OF LIES... THE INSTANT SUNDAY TIMES BESTSELLING THRILLER AND NO.1 KINDLE BESTSELLER
They say the camera never lies.
But on this show, you can't trust anything you see.
Stranded in the Welsh mountains, seven reality show contestants have no idea what they've signed up for.
Each of these strangers has a secret. If another player can guess the truth, they won't just be eliminated - they'll be exposed live on air. The stakes are higher than they'd ever imagined, and they're trapped.
The disappearance of a contestant wasn't supposed to be part of the drama. Detective Ffion Morgan has to put aside what she's watched on screen, and find out who these people really are - knowing she can't trust any of them.
And when a murderer strikes, Ffion knows every one of her suspects has an alibi . . . and a secret worth killing for.
'Twisty and clever. Another deeply enjoyable mystery from a talented storyteller' KARIN SLAUGHTER
'Great fun - clever plot, engaging characters and smart, sharp writing' SHARI LAPENA
'A brilliantly plotted whodunnit' SARAH PEARSE
'Fearless, fiery and funny DC Ffion Morgan is fast becoming my new favourite cop' T.M. LOGAN

Accents
A great story and I like the complexity of the characters. The new conflict between Ffion and George is good if not annoying at times. I’m glad we got a little of George’s backstory at the end.
However, like others I have to say the very, very harsh and guttural voice of Leo is really off putting and I found I had to lower the volume each time he speaks. Apart from anything else he’s part of Cheshire Police -I live here and even if you have had a strong scouse accent surely it would have been tempered by now! Calm down!

I like this series but ...
Really like the characters and relationships in this book and the individual crime stories are good. George the new DC is a good edition ...I like her character and hope to see more in future books.
But whilst the narrator is good and clearly has Welsh heritage as her Welsh accents and pronunciation are excellent her Scouse accent is beyond woeful ..... please get a second narrator to pick up the voice of Leo next time as it is really off-putting and I want to keep reading!

Good all round
Good narration (previous book was slightly OTT on narration, actor seems to have toned it down a tad which is a big improvement). Really enjoy the character development and plot, writing is great too. Didn’t guess the ending!

Good story, awful narration
It’s a real shame about the narration on this recording. The aggressive, grating scouse accent is totally at odds with the way the author portrays Leo’s character. It’s awful.
But it’s a good story overall and the descriptive pros transport you to the welsh mountains.

Claire Mackintosh is my new favourite writer!
Loved the second instalment in the series about Ffion Morgan and her interesting take on police protocol. Without spoiling the ending, all most cried with relief when she said it!
These stories are begging for s TV adaptation! Come on Netflix!!!

My new favourite author
The first Clare Mackintosh novel
I read was “I see you”, several years ago. I’d forgotten about her until I saw The last party on Audible and I was reminded of how excellent her writing and story telling is. This second novel doesn’t disappoint. Fast paced whodunnit that keeps you guessing until the end. Narration is also perfect too!

Another great one. But grating narration.
Yet another Claire classic. This one with a great reality Tv theme (given all the respect it deserves), and with a plot that I suspect owes more than a nod to the influence of Columbo and Banacek.
My one gripe - as with the first in the series - is with the narration.
Generally perfectly fine, not one of those voices that makes it hard to listen to - all very atmospheric and a good storyteller.
However someone PLEASE tell Chloe Angharad Davies that she cannot do a “scouse” accent! It is so awful as to be grating and distracting to the extent that I’m considering getting the next in the series in print form - which is really annoying thing to have to do.
Leo doesn’t need the scouse accent. Great if you can do it, but you can’t, so please don’t try. Leave it as standard English or ask another actor to do those lines if the author wants a scouse accent.
Cos that’s not what she’s getting now, and it’s really beginning to detract from the excellent work.

Absolutely smashing
Loved this one every bit as much as the first, although it's a very different storyline. Quite bizarre in fact. Loved the show characters, especially Pam, not so much Henry. Miles is a vile character so nobody much cares what happens to him.
Great Narration again too.
