About this listen
Vanessa moves to Savannah to pick up the pieces of her once very certain existence after her fiancé cheats on her. An independent and self-sufficient accountant, Vanessa also has a knack for DIY. When she purchases a ramshackle property in need of repair, she crosses paths with Daniel, a sexy and skillful carpenter. Daniel is a ladies' man who plays the field and has his own romantic issues to conquer. As Vanessa embarks on a journey to embrace her new community and rehab her new home, she enlists Daniel's help. Tackling the house is the easy part, but can two do-it-yourselfers find a way to work together to fix their love lives as well?

Modern and Trendy with Southern American Charm.
I thoroughly enjoyed this book.
I particularly like how the story reflects the ups and downs of life. It is a romance that is in touch with reality. The characters are flawed and therefore more believable and likeable. There are suggestions of Daniel's history throughout the plot that make you question his choices (and leave the reader slightly on edge) though it is really hard not to like him. Vanessa is the perfect balance of strong/independent and vulnerable as she rebuilds her life post breakup.
To be honest, the story started a little slow and I wasn't sure I would enjoy it. Initially I wasn't convinved by Kelley Hazen's narration either. However as the story progressed, I realised that her style matched the setting and characters. She brought Daniel and Vanessa to life and gave the supporting characters and descriptions texture. Like I said, I thoroughly enjoyed the story.
Sandra Kyle delivers a HEA and very neatly ties all the issues in perfect bows. She has written a story that is true to the Savannah setting while being modern and saavy as well. I am looking forward to the other books in this series. I just hope we get to revisit with these characters again.
