About this listen
Mina's well-ordered life is thrown into disarray when her father drops a bombshell on his deathbed: She has a brother she never knew of. Not only that, he is on his way to rescue her from the collapse of their school under a mountain of debts.
A wild journey across country later, Mina finds herself thrown at the feet of the brutish William Nye, prize-fighter and owner of a disreputable inn, The Merry Harlot. Respectable Mina is appalled to find herself obliged to wed this surly stranger!
Forced to draw on reserves of inner strength she never knew she possessed, Mina uncovers perilous secrets and bravely carves herself a new life at the side of this man, as she proves herself a more than worthy partner for the prize-fighter.

Good enough.
It was a good enough audiobook but felt that the sub plot could have been worked on better. Great scenes of passion but I cringed every time the heroine called out the hero’s name🤢. Totally destroyed the momentum. Don’t know if it was really true to it’s time, felt a bit modern in places but over all it passed a few days while painting a fence.

A good read! Not a soppy romance.
The characters of H and h were well written. Loved the way h handled the grumpy overbearing H. Their love story was believable with none of the unnecessary misunderstandings and lack of communication that authors use to flesh out a romance plot.
One gripe I have, otherwise I would've given a 4.5, the narrator. Her cadence is off putting. I had to really push it to the back of my head. Good job I was invested in the story and the characters or I would've given up. Yes, I will definitely be reading more from this Author. A seriously good find!!

A hidden Gem
This was surprisingly good, I like both the Male and Female lead and liked all the side characters.

Literally nothing happened
As per the title.. Nothing happened in this book? I was bored but preserved and it didn't pay off. The main characters have 0 chemistry. I did like the FMC as she's strong willed for a woman of her time, but that's really the only thing I liked about this book. The narrator also puts a weird inflection at the end of every sentence and it's really distracting.
