Summary

Though she has known hardships in her life, Ingeborg Bjorklund chooses to focus on all she has been given. Blessed with children and grandchildren, she enjoys the friendship and support of the entire Blessing, North Dakota, community. And after several years of widowhood, she has reached a place of contentment with her life.

Meanwhile, her stepson, Thorliff, is raising two children alone since his beloved Elizabeth died. But there is a new schoolteacher in town, Louisa Gutenburg, and Thorliff doesn't seem to be himself whenever she's around. It isn't just his obvious fascination with Louisa, but the fact that he seems completely oblivious to it that makes Ingeborg smile. How long before Thorliff realizes what everyone else can see a mile away?

But not everything is comfortable for Ingeborg. One of her dearest friendships is changing - and she will have to decide if her settled, predictable life is worth more to her than a future she hardly dares to imagine.

Ouch!

I am so disappointed in the narrator. Couldn’t tell the difference between male , female and children.

She mispronounced the name of Thorliff. I have loved this family and have followed them. I was so excited to listen to this book. Not sure I can listen to another book with this narrator.

Bridge the Gap !!!

While I have thoroughly enjoyed this entire Series, I was horrified by the enormous gap between this Book and the previous. I only just began listening, so perhaps the author explains later, but to jump from Thorliff being a teenager to suddenly being widowed (which I only know from reading the intro) to having three children, and to Ingaborg being widowed (again only understood from the intro) and entertaining Mr. Gould ... the reader is left feeling entirely cheated in understanding everything that happened in the interim — it’s as if the author suddenly decided she was tired of this series and ended it abruptly. I’m not sure I will continue listening to this last book. Deeply disappointed to say the least.

This Series is Beyond Amazing!

I have loved this whole series from Red River of the North, Return to Red River of the North, and beyond. I don’t even know how many books there are. You learn to love Ingabord and all of the characters. You laugh with them and you cry with them. You never want the books to end. This is my favorite books and characters of all times. Be blessed!

Puzzled

I could hardly put down books 1-6, but book 7 was a disappointment! Ingeborg is now a widow for the 2nd time, and they NEVER tell you how her 2nd husband died. They hardly mention her second husband, except to say he died- BUT HOW???
Book 6 ends with a marriage and book 7 NEVER mentions anything about the marriage until the summary at the very end of the story. That was disappointing!!!
You would be better off stopping at book 5 and calling it a day, because the rest of the books sort a loses you in the beginning of the story line :-(
I could have saved a lot of time by doing something else, instead of continuing to read book 7! This is the reason I rated it a 2 star Overall.

Enjoyable

I needed this book after the last one. While it was a bit jarring to have Matese and Thorleif names said differently, it did not ruin the story for me. I as always, was struck with Ingeborgs courage and willingness to face hard choices with grace. Lots of good lessons for life since it illustrates the truth that we don’t control much of what happens, yet we can still trust God for guidance and wisdom. And that even when tragedy and sorrow hit, there is healing and more to look forward for.

Fabulous

So very sad this series is at an end. But it has been so wonderful and inspiring. The characters became real and I felt all of their sorrows and joys. I cried at the deaths of loved ones and grinned at some of the kids antics.

Thank you from my heart Lauraine Snelling!

A Wonderful End

This book is unique since it was written long after the original series. It also weaves ties from the prequel book regarding Ingeborg's life in Norway prior to immigrating to the United States. So the series has benefited from the bookends of the prequel and postquel. I think it has been written with even greater finesse than the original series (and the narrator was much more lively too). It was a dream come true and a beautiful end of the story of Ingeborg. I read this in succession of the other Red River of the North series books, but it spoiled alot of the younger generations stories. I reccomend not reading this book until you have read "Return to Red River" and "daughters of blessing" first.
