Story
"Bears like Paddington are very rare," says Mrs Bird, "and a good thing too, or it would cost us a small fortune in marmalade." It's a good thing for lots of reasons that bears like Paddington are rare. Whether it is his attempts at home decorating, detective work or photography, the bear from Darkest Peru causes his own special brand of chaos.

Alan Bennett reads A. A. Milne's much-loved stories about a small bear and his friends. The collection includes Winnie-the-Pooh, The House at Pooh Corner and A Party for Pooh. What is the connection between a bear of very little brain and a honey pot? Usually it's the very sticky paw of Winnie-the-Pooh, as he takes a break between adventures for a little something. In these stories, Pooh goes visiting and gets into a tight place, Eeyore loses a tail and Piglet meets a Heffalump.

Story
This tells the often hilarious story of two middle-aged women, Pat and Sam, intent on fleeing hearth and home for a blissful, family-free fortnight of drawing and cooking classes – only to end up at leaky old Hartley House. There, the ever-resourceful Aunt Biddy is struggling to get her nephew Tom’s life back on track by opening his only asset as an idyllic country retreat.
Summary
The Browns first met Paddington on a railway station - Paddington station, in fact. He had travelled all the way from Darkest Peru with only a jar of marmalade, a suitcase, and his hat.
The Browns soon found that Paddington was a very unusual bear. Ordinary things - like having a bath, travelling underground or going to the seaside - became quite extraordinary, if a bear called Paddington was involved.

Fabulous
It's lovely to hear the full version of the Paddington stories, which are so beautifully written and funny for children and adults alike. And Stephen Fry is the perfect reader for these stories - dry, witty, well-timed. He differentiates each voice very clearly without going over the top. One to enjoy in the car on a long journey again and again and again.

Chapter markers missing
Though there a number of stories here, they aren’t properly marked with chapters. This makes selecting a particular story - for, say, a car journey - impossible. As this is likely brought in from a CD with these tracks present, it seems a rather lazy omission.
