About this listen

46 Stones addresses multiple topics that have been the source of frustration, discouragement, and disillusionment for many in the modern-day church. The book gives a name and a voice to these issues. It is time for the church worldwide—in the spirit of Ecclesiastes 3:5—“to throw away some stones;” in this case, the faulty manmade stones and legalistic stones that have been stumbling blocks in the evangelical church for way too long. These forty-six stones are simply a compilation of notions, tendencies, and beliefs that are being “called out” one by one. Each chapter stands alone. The book can, therefore, be used as a Bible study facilitator, a devotional, a conversation starter for home groups, a handbook for leadership teams, or a go-to book for personal reflection.

This book opened my mind to many of the stones that can weigh down our evangelical experience:
- Some of the staunch traditions, including cultural mores as part of the church and it's leaders that are not necessarily scripturally based
- Clinging to routines that lead to stagnation
- Blind belief
- Decision making with our feelings rather than scripture-based belief
And the list goes on. The author addresses all the stones while providing scriptures that clearly explains how and why these things have become stones, while providing insight to removing the stones.

The audio book is well spoken with narrator keeping the tone instructive yet interesting.
