傷口に、おいしいものがしみていく

苦しい環境にあり、人を信頼することをあきらめ、
自分の人生すらもあきらめていた主人公が、かけがえのない人たちと出逢うことで自らの心と体を取り戻していく。


主人公の小鳥のささやかな楽しみは、仕事の帰り道に灯りのともったお弁当屋さんから漂うおいしそうなにおいをかぐこと。
人と接することが得意ではない小鳥は、心惹かれつつも長らくお店のドアを開けられずにいた。
十年ほど前、家族に恵まれず、生きる術も住む場所もなかった18歳の小鳥に、病を得た自身の介護を仕事として依頼してきたのは、小鳥の父親だというコジマさんだった。
病によって衰え、コミュニケーションが難しくなっていくのと反比例するように、少しずつ心が通いあうようにもなっていたが、ある日出勤すると、コジマさんは眠るように亡くなっていた。
