Gene Luke Vlahovic Retired Professional Engineer World Traveller Educator and Writer Gene Luke Vlahovic is of the Serbian origin. Born and raised in the former country of Yugoslavia, he acquired his love of literature from reading European Classics at an early age. At fourteen, his first short story was published by his hometown magazine, and at nineteen, several of his poems were published by the University Press and the Literary Magazine for Young Poets. The Chronicles of the First Serbian Soccer Club in America, co-authored with Lou Vasilic, and the book of stories, The Subtle Times, profiling the Serbian American immigrants were published in 2000 by the JR Publishing of Zemun, Yugoslavia. His first novel, Tima Tisler was published in 2004 by the largest traditional publisher in Yugoslavia, Prosveta Publishing. All three books were printed in the Serbian language and distributed throughout the countries of the former Yugoslavia. The Artisan, the author's award-winning work, is his first book published in English. The trilogy Pilgrim of Fate has volume 1 and volume 2 published in 2019 and 2022. The latest publication, Innocent China, part 1, published in 2023, a travelogue covering the journey into China in 1981, by Gene Luke and his wife Donna Vlahovic, after Nixon's visit to China. You will find all his books on Amazon and Lightning Source. Gene Luke, the author, currently resides in Florida and continues to create and publish stories in his second language. He is the founder and member of the Brevard Authors Society, member of the Space Coast Writers Guild and the Florida Writers Association. He is also an active member of Brevard Chorale, the concert performers under the auspices of Eastern Florida State College. During his business career and his retirement life, he was an active member of the following institutions: - Director of the Serbian Literary Society, 1984-1986. - Member of the Serbian Writers Association, 2004-2006. - Senior Advisor to Congressman Jim Moody for the Yugoslavia conflicts, 1990 -1991. - President of the Serbian American Chamber of Commerce, 2000 to 2002.
