Life feels infinite when you're young, but Allie Graves knows all too well that she's living on borrowed time. Six years ago, she made a deal to save her life in exchange for service to the angels.
It seemed like a sweet bargain when she made it, but what do 17-year-olds know about making life choices? Now her six years of service are up and returning to her mortal life comes with some serious consequences.
To top it off, a mystery man has come into her life, but the angels aren't fond of his brand of magic, so they've made it their mission to end him. How's a girl supposed to get a date when the guy might not survive the week?

An unexpected delight
Blurb:
Life feels infinite when you’re young, but Allie Graves knows all too well that she’s living on borrowed time. As a Reash, she made a deal to save her life in exchange for six years of service to the angels.
It seemed like a sweet bargain when she made it, but what do seventeen-year-olds know about making life choices? It might have been fine, but she’s met a boy. Isn’t that always how it goes? And when her handler Gabriel drops in on her twenty-third birthday to remind her that she has just one month left before everything she knows will be erased, she forms a plan.
She has less than a month to uncover a secret, save the boy, and leave clues that will help her remember when it's all over. Can she do it? Only time will tell.
Book review:
I have to start this review by stating that I dove into this book more because of a sense of duty than because I was excited about it. After my boyfirend read the blurb (I never do for the life of me), he wasn't excited and told me about it. I am not usually someone that gravitates towards Angels and Demons so this was definitely not something I would have read if I had not received the ARC copy.
I would have missed out on so much!
From the start, the mystery is very engaging and I loved discovering every aspect of the character's life alongside her. There are so many things she needs to discover and by doing so alongside the reader, the plot is charged with tension and interest. The changes of identity, transitions between past and present and even the romance, all fit together in a perfect puzzle of delight.
The writing is very clever, as in other books I felt like if a single character took on multiple personalities or identities it was always har to follow. In this case, the clever use of the prose prevented me from being lost and the incredible creativity of the author kept me engaged, shifting the plot left and right in a cascade of magic.
The location was also very cool, as I am a sucker for old mansions. As the desctiption was so well crafted, I was able to walk through the rooms and corridors with Ali, following her along in her quest while knowing what I was surrounded by.
If you are looking for a new favorite read I would highly suggest trying this one out. I believe you won't regret it.
