About this listen
It was supposed to be fun. A mutual use of each other's bodies. To be a ruse to the world around us.
I wanted to be free from my ex, and he wanted to escape his.
One drunken night turned a joke into a life-changing moment.
He warned me not to fall for him, and I should've listened.
He intoxicated me. He made me crave him. He ruined me.
In the end, I'll never be the same.

Struggle to finish
I nearly stopped listening to this so many times. It was awful! The characters aren’t that likeable. The story was a carbon copy of every stereotypical light BDSM storyline and character out there, but with none of the spark or build up that makes those stories work.
Did no one else find the female lead to be a bit of a b***h? Starting things with other women to stake her territory when she claims to be ok with the hero’s job. I don’t know what’s going on with all the positive reviews out there.
Shirl Rae has got to be one of the most annoying narrators with her false laughs; and made the female lead sound like even more of a b***hy mean girl strutting around.
I found myself wondering if Joe Arden ever groans and shakes his head at the rubbish he has to narrate to get paid. He’s pretty good in most stories but he had a bad story and weak characters in this case.
I’m sure I enjoyed the Corps Security series, but since I’ve struggled with all of the Hope Town series I wonder if my standards were lower back then because I’d only just started listening to audiobooks, or this series is just much worse.
