A weary Adrian Ring continues his dangerous push to find the missing members of the mythical second Trinity—saviors of mankind from the judgment of the undead. Selected by some unknowable force to lead one of humanity’s last bastions of defense in a global war against the dead, the Dark will use any weapon to ensure her failure.

Still grieving a tragic personal loss, Lockey and Nate shift their focus to the task of acquiring resources for their new community’s continuing survival, but something dark is stirring. An eerie shift in the behaviour of the undead makes Lockey’s apocalypse experience feel personal, and she has no idea why she appears to be the sole target for their murderous rage.
