Episode 4 – Beauty-Care is Healthcare: An Interview with Dr. Francine Bethune, Fdr & CEO of C Marie Botanicals

In this insightful episode, I have the pleasure of speaking with Dr. Francine Bethune from C. Marie Botanicals. We delve into the critical topic of clean beauty, emphasizing the significance of eco-friendly products. Dr. Bethune explains that what we apply to our skin is just as important as what we consume, as these substances are absorbed into our bodies. Expanding Ziscuit's horizons beyond food, we explore how harmful chemicals in skincare and haircare products can be just as detrimental to our gut biome as unhealthy food choices, highlighting the interconnectedness of our external and internal wellness.

Our goal is to help you change your mindset on food in 2024. We want you to see food as a way to nourish your body and prevent diseases, not as a source of pleasure or pain. That's why we partnered with Ziscuit, a grocery search engine that helps you find low-cost grocery items by comparing local store prices. Ziscuit also has a recipe marketplace where you can discover health-conscious recipes tailored to your needs. You can search by ailment, diet, cuisine, or ingredient. You can also earn credits when you post your recipes and share them with the community. Ziscuit is the ultimate tool for smart and healthy shopping.

  • Ep 2 - Why You Need To Watch Your Magnesium Levels
    Feb 6 2024
Episode 2: Why You Need To Watch Your Magnesium Levels

Welcome to the podcast, where we discuss how food can be your medicine or poison. In this episode, we focus on one of the most essential minerals for your health: magnesium. Magnesium is involved in over 300 biochemical reactions in your body, affecting your bones, blood pressure, heart rhythm, and more. Many people are deficient in magnesium due to factors such as stress, poor diet, medication, and alcohol. How can you tell if you are low in magnesium? Some of the common symptoms are leg cramps, spasms, fatigue, weakness, irregular heartbeat, mood changes, irritability, headaches, insomnia, high blood pressure, and constipation. If you have any of these signs, you might want to increase your magnesium-rich foods and beverages. We will share with you some of the best sources of magnesium and how to incorporate them into your daily meals.

Our goal is to help you change your mindset on food in 2024. We want you to see food as a way to nourish your body and prevent diseases, not as a source of pleasure or pain. • Ep 1 - We Are Facing A Food Crisis
    Mar 6 2023
    EPISODE SUMMARY:
The USDA defines food deserts as an area where low-income people cannot easily access large food retailers. The Association of American Medical Colleges and USDA shows that 54 million people are food insecure, and 23.5 million live in food deserts. This means that 1 in 6 Americans struggles to eat daily. People who live in food deserts turn to non-traditional food retailers (convenience stores) and fast food establishments that sell processed foods with lower nutritional value.

The lack of nutrition is a primary catalyst for chronic diseases like Type II diabetes, high blood pressure, heart disease, and cancer. Ziscuit aims to fight these problems by providing tools to underserved shoppers that save them time and money when preparing food for their families.

Ziscuit’s grocery search engine helps shoppers instantly find low-cost grocery items by searching local store prices. Ziscuit’s Recipe Marketplace is filled with health-conscious recipes that are searchable by the type of aliment. Shoppers can earn redeemable credits when they post their health-conscious recipes.
