Yoga for World Peace with Rama Jyoti Vernon

  • Summary

  • As we explore the world of Yoga, especially in the West, we would be remiss if we didn’t connect with some of the early pioneers; the ones who were closest to those who brought this ancient practice from the India. Our Guest today, not only was she close, having introduced BKS Iyengar to the US, she also founded Yoga Journal, whose humble roots was a type written newsletter from Rama's kitchen table. She was also instrumental in the formation of the Yoga Alliance, a professional and trade association for yoga teachers and schools in the US. What is even more striking is what Rama has done with Yoga in the world of international diplomacy. Founding President of the Center for International Dialogue formerly known as the Center for the Soviet American Dialogue, Rama, as a citizen diplomat, travelled to the Soviet Union 47 times in seven years and has been recognized by US and Soviet alike as being instrumental in ending the Cold War. Rama shares her vision of world peace with us today.
