If you or someone you know needs help, the national suicide and crisis lifeline in the U.S. is available by calling or texting 988. On the final day of his life, 14-year-old Sewell Setzer III sent a text to his closest confidant, expressing how much he missed her and how he couldn't wait to "come home to her." On the surface, this might have seemed like a simple, heartfelt exchange between a teenager and a close friend. Yet, the truth beneath this communication is far darker and more complex. Sewell was, in fact, speaking to a lifelike AI chatbot—designed to mimic human interaction and respond in ways that fostered genuine emotional connections. Over time, Sewell's attachment to this chatbot deepened, spiraling into a dangerous obsession that would tragically end in a profound and heartbreaking loss. This tragedy has not only shattered the lives of those who knew him but also raised crucial questions about the role of AI in our emotional lives. In this episode of Slaterpedia, we delve into the chilling consequences of when AI crosses the line from a tool to a killer. • EP98: Vampire of Sacramento: Spree Killer Richard Chase
    Nov 27 2024
Visit Patreon.com/psychopediapod to join our family of freaks and gain access to exclusive content! Richard Chase, infamously known as the "Vampire of Sacramento," was a brutal spree killer whose horrifying crimes still shock the world. His chilling case remains a focal point in criminology, with his complex psychological profile continuing to be analyzed and used by the FBI. In the 1970s, Richard Chase savagely murdered six people, and engaged in horrific acts of body dissection, cannibalism and necrophilia. His behavior was heavily influenced by his severe mental illness, including paranoia and delusions, which led Richard to believe that drinking the blood of his victims would prevent his own premature death. His devastating killing spree is truly a case study of the intersection of mental disturbance and malicious intent, forcing us to grapple with difficult questions about accountability, insanity, and the limits of empathy for those driven by profound psychological torment who go on to commit unthinkable acts of violence and cruelty. TRIGGER WARNING: This case is extremely graphic in nature. Please listen with caution! • EP97: Sex Addicted Murderous Mom
    Nov 20 2024
Visit Patreon.com/psychopediapod to join our family of freaks and gain access to exclusive content! When addiction drives someone to commit the ultimate act of cruelty, how do we reconcile their humanity with the horror of their actions? Addiction, such as an unchecked obsession with sex, can dissolve moral boundaries, driving individuals to prioritize their compulsions over empathy, ethics, and even basic humanity—including, in this heartbreaking case, the fundamental maternal instinct. Louise Porton deliberately ended the lives of the children she brought into the world, striking at the very core of what it means to be human and leaving us outraged and deeply unsettled. Her calculated cruelty and staggering indifference, arguably driven by an overwhelming sex addiction, led her to take the lives of her two precious young daughters: Lexi, just three years old, and Scarlett, only 17 months. In doing so, Louise betrayed not only her role as a mother but also the very essence of nature itself, and transformed from a giver of life to a dealer of death in the most tragic way imaginable. • EP96: I Will Survive
    Nov 13 2024

In the world of mythology, the phoenix stands as one of the most enduring symbols of resilience and teaches us that true strength is not defined by the absence of hardship, but by the ability to rise after being consumed by it. Imagine, for a moment, hearing the sickening sound of your own flesh being torn open, feeling your head nearly severed, your body stabbed, slashed, and disemboweled. Picture your attackers walking away, convinced that no living being could survive the savagery they’ve inflicted. But here's the twist: they severely underestimated the woman at the center of this story. A woman who, like the phoenix, rose from the ashes of unimaginable brutality, emerging not only alive but more powerful and resilient than ever. This woman—whose journey is marked by pain and horror beyond comprehension—became the embodiment of unbreakable willpower. This is the case of Alison Botha, whose harrowing tale is one of survival, strength, and an indomitable spirit that defied death itself. Please listen with caution. • EP95: Bait, Switch, and Stab (feat Kaelyn Moore of Heart Starts Pounding)
    Nov 6 2024
Visit Patreon.com/psychopediapod to join our family of freaks and gain access to exclusive content! On April 3, 2011, a cemetery worker in South Africa stumbled upon an outrageously gruesome scene: large quantities of fresh blood and drag marks leading to a pair of blood-soaked jeans, and beneath that, a naked young adult male, butchered, eviscerated, and dismembered, barely recognizable as human. Cold as ice, this young man had been brutally stabbed and skinned; and when his remains were uncovered, they were missing numerous body parts, including his head. This is the absolutely devastating case of Michael Van Eck, who was murdered and flayed by a depraved woman posing as a romantic interest, Chané van Heerden (known as "The Female Ed Gein"), and her disturbed boyfriend, Maartens van der Merwe. Steeped in pseudo-occult practices and sadistic ritualistic behavior, this savage case is regarded as one of the most heinous murders in South African history. Please listen with caution. • EP94: World's Most Haunted Doll
    Oct 31 2024
Visit Patreon.com/psychopediapod to join our family of freaks and gain access to exclusive content! We’ve all felt it—the spine-tingling sensation that someone or something is lurking, watching us from the shadows. That an inanimate object, specifically a doll, has somehow come to life, piercing its gaze through the veil of stillness. In the eerie corners of Key West, this creeping dread becomes almost tangible in the presence of Robert the Doll, a stuffed creation with disturbingly lifelike features: a stitched mouth, button nose, and wide, soulless black eyes that seem to follow your every move with a sinister intelligence. Although Robert the Doll may have been intended as a charming toy, anyone who lays eyes on him knows that his haunting expression conceals dark secrets best left undisturbed. Robert is not just a doll; he is a vessel of dark magic, cursed (if you dare to believe), and ready to unleash havoc and despair at any moment. This is the story of the most haunted doll in the world. Happy Halloween! • EP93: Blender Bloodshed
    Oct 30 2024
Visit Patreon.com/psychopediapod to join our family of freaks and gain access to exclusive content! On February 13, 2024, a man received a call from his grandchildren's school informing him that their mother, Kristina Joksimovic, a former Miss Switzerland finalist, had failed to pick them up. After collecting the children and bringing them back to their home, he searched the house for clues as to his daughter's whereabouts, and found a large black garbage bag in the basement laundry room. Trembling, he peeled back the plastic to make an absolutely gruesome discovery: Kristina’s signature cascade of golden blonde hair, still attached to her severed head. The horrifying sight raised countless questions, most hauntingly: What had happened to his beautiful daughter, and where was the rest of Kristina? The answers would soon reveal themselves in a manner that shocked and horrified the world. Because parts of Kristina’s remains were discovered soaking in a chemical solution, while others, devastatingly, had been pureed in a kitchen blender. This is the shockingly brutal and heartbreaking case of Kristina Joksimovic.
