Story
Seven years after his sister vanished without a trace, Jude is on the road, determined not to return home until he has found her. He wants to reunite his broken family, but more than this he wants to know why Zoe left. They’d been enjoying the funfair - grasping a rare moment of happiness following their parents’ divorce - when after a ride together, Zoe had stopped speaking to her mother’s new partner. Though Mandy believed he was the man she’d waited all her life for, her love for her daughter trumped even that.

Story
Small, shy, safe. That’s how Becky lives ever since her last romantic calamity landed her in hospital. Her comfort zone is as confining as her tiny bank balance and fiercely guarded by her totally over-the-top mum. But the news that her ex is back sniffing round is the final straw. In a very un-Becky move, she packs her bags for the Greek island of Skiathos. When sizzling-hot restaurant-owner Kyros asks her to stay longer, Becky is stunned. Could she really create a new life for herself here and trust her heart with this smooth-talking charmer?

Summary
She’s given her daughter everything. Now it’s time to give her the truth.
Becky’s father is not just absent: he’s a total mystery, a hole in her life. He died before she was born and for her mother, Laura, the subject is strictly off-limits. When Laura books a spontaneous trip to Greece, Becky decides to join her, determined to get closer to her mother - and to the truth.
But as they make their way to the island of Santorini, it becomes clear that this holiday is not as impulsive as Becky thought. Laura’s hiding something from her daughter - and she’s been hiding it for Becky’s whole life. Not only has she been here before, it’s where she last saw Becky’s father.
But Laura’s memories of that first visit are tinged with pain and heartbreak, secrets she’s kept buried for twenty-five years. Now, with the truth emerging into the sunlight at last, can Laura and Becky lay the ghosts of their past to rest and find the happiness they’ve both been looking for?

Mistakes & Missed Opportunities
I read and listened to this book the audible parts enhanced my the book in this case. Very slow start that ramped up as the book went along. A woman Laura meets a guy at a rave and hesitantly agrees to go on holiday with him to her dream destination of Santorini.
Their time together does not go well abroad and in the midst of things she meets another man and he seems to be the one. After one terrifying night between the two men - Laura goes home her missing suitcase has the love of her life’s information in it.
Fast forward 24 years and this is when the book gets interesting

Then and Now
A mother and daughter on a journey together as well as each having their own personal journey. The various stories interwoven and how each learned more about the other made for an interesting listen, though I felt the daughter, supposedly 21 or 22 and finished university still behaved more like a sulky ("Its all about ME") teenager

Tired all today because I could not stop reading.
un-putdownable story, good narration and I will look for more by this author. My only slight issue is with the voice of Mum. When telling her own story she spoke well but when narrative was quoting her in Becky's story, her accent was rough and that fake London accent people put on. Otherwise the narration could not have been better.

Us, Always
This novel is split between two timelines about 20-some years apart; both timelines are written and narrated exceptionally well and then come together in a wonderful way.
I adored the beautiful ambiance and setting: Santorini, Greece. The author did not shirk on delicious descriptions of this seemingly idyllic vacation/holiday destination, and I felt almost transported via listening! The story is refreshing, engrossing, and touching in so many ways; I found it difficult to put down several times whilst listening and finished it within appx. 2 days. Gave me all the feels.
I highly recommend this one, especially if you are feeling some wanderlust and a wish to escape for a bit!

Semi interesting story
I stuck with this book to the end because it did have an interesting storyline and I wanted to know the outcome.
However from the very beginning it was difficult to distinguish the two main female characters from each other. I had a hard time figuring out who was the mother and who was the daughter until I was several chapters in. I also had to speed up the narration because it dragged on way too slow.
My main complaint with the story is that it was just one more example of a weak, timid, stupid woman who couldn't make up her mind, and who was a compulsive liar.
The setting and description of Greece was refreshing.

Strong storyline
Excellent storytelling. I was completely wrapped up into Becky & Laura's lives. It felt authentic and real. Both timelines meshed well and carried me along without any slowness. In fact, I would be upset to switch gears between 1990's Greece to 2018 Greece only to realize within seconds that I was totally spellbound with the plot where it left off minutes before.
Definitely picking up another book by Nick Alexander as I find his writing style contemporary and strongly formulated.
