Summary
We all have our secrets. Mine involves a felony record, illegal potions, and magi - well...the last one could get me killed.
I've been living in a small town working for the vampires for the last six months. All I want is to save up enough to open an apothecary so I don't have to heal the neckers anymore.
Of course, nothing in my life can be that simple.
Two detectives show up at my door asking questions about a dead girl and trying to pin the murder on my employer. Next thing I know, I'm dodging fireballs in parking lots.
The police and the witches want me to roll over on the vampires. The only problem is I'm almost certain they didn't kill the girl. Although, my best friend and favorite vampire has been missing and won't answer my calls.
Time is running out for me to save my paycheck...and do the right thing or whatever.
The Witch's Bite series is a pause-resisting urban fantasy with a sassy heroine, vampires that don’t sparkle, and magic that's unique and refreshing.

glad this was a box set
I enjoyed the books they would make for easy holiday reading, and for those that can read I would recommend getting the books rather than the audio option this time.
Unfortunately the narrator let this set down for me quite badly. it was almost like she was reading a set of instructions rather than a book. It was all very stilted and didn't flow like most books do.
As I can no longer read books anymore I have to rely on audio recordings now so its quite frustrating when narrators and or producers don't seem to take the time to make the books as enjoyable as they possibly can.
if I had got just the first book in the set I wouldn't have gone back for the rest due to the narrator

OK but shallow
It is a urban fantasy story with witches, vampires, werewolves and other goodies as a strong female protagonist.
The story is pretty good, but both it and the narration are lacking polish.

Swearing
The story is okay but the swearing in it is beyond acceptable, the F-word every few minutes is excessive

Mixed, but not too bad
The basic premise of the story is pretty good, but would be far far better without the nausiating, "Oh I find him SO attractive I can barely resit throwing myself at him," aspect of Olivia's relationship with the standard-issue-devastatingly-handsome-arrogant-git-vampire character, Reilly.
He manipluates her by threatening to kill all her friends, threatens her, treats her like a possession, tells her she is his, becomes her jailer, selects the clothing she has to wear, has no concept of personal-space, and deliberately initiates intimate contact with her... yet she saves his life, finds him attractive, and increasingly TRUSTS him!
She should be telling him he's ruined any chance of her cooperating with him in any way...
{Gack!} Doormat woman with zero self respect. Not an attractive or appealing trait in the main protagonist of a book. I had to mark down for that aspect alone.
The author seems to think abusive behaviour is forgivable as long as the man doing the abusing is good-looking... and that's just a World Of Wrong.
Laurel Schroeder's narration is, however, as good as ever.

Awful Narration/Great narrative
The narrator has a really odd cadence. It’s both monotonous and aggravating. There is little differentiation between characters and as such it’s easy to miss huge chunks of the story.
However, the plot is intriguing. One to buy as a good old fashioned paper book.

It was okay
The story itself was interesting but I had a few issues with it:
It is written in a harsh first person style that is distracting. It feels very juvenile and detracts from the cleverness of the story. For example: ‘I walk into the room, I walk to the cupboard, I open the cupboard’ it’s written this way throughout and it was a little disappointing bc the story was quite good.
The reader is a little wooden and I found myself speeding it up just to get through it as the last book feels unnecessarily draggy.
Lastly, the resolution between the two main characters feels abrupt and forced.
But overall it’s worth a listen.

Promising story, spoiled by narration
I like stories of the supernatural but these promising books were totally spoiled by the most boring, robotic, mono-tonal narration that I have ever heard! It totally put me off listening, I will ensure that I avoid this author and narrator in the future.

horrible narrator
the stories maybe interesting, however I can't get past the narration. She pauses in the wrong spots. Makes it choppy.

Horrible Narrator!
This story was good enough that I would have bought more if there had been more to the series, not so good that you can’t put the book down mind you, but good enough to break up my usual listens when I want something different.
However, the narrator was so horrible that she made me have to stop listening so many times out of pure frustration that I kept not wanting to continue. She has this ridiculous accent that sounds made up, like she was trying to do something cool & different but it was an epic fail in a major way. My late teens heard her narrate 2 lines& turned my book off & now they mock her constantly as a new joke. She did this long drawn out thing to every word she spoke, and it was much worse on the last word of each sentence.
Don’t buy as an audible, buy as a book, the narrator truly ruins the listening experience.

Proof that a narrator can ruin a book
I have never had a book that I couldn’t work though a poor narrator performance, until now.
It is like having an over enunciating Captain Kirk narrating a book.
Ugh!!!

Robot voice
Couldn’t even get 5 minutes into the story. The reader sounds like a breathy robot, drawing out each word at the end.

Narrator is a robot
I'm trying to get through the book but its so hard listening to this girl. She songs like a robot and pauses after each sentence. She doesn't get into the book at all no emotion, its terrible. I hate to waste the credit on this so I'm trying to get through it but I don't know how much longer I can last.

swoon
I loved this series! I need more! the story is so interesting and the build up is just right. I do wish on some level there was more to the big bad in the story but I wasn't too upset by this. the journey never gets boring and I was captivated from beginning to end! my only real disappointment was wanting more between the two love interest so if you are looking for hot and steamy, sorry but this is def ya and will leave you wanting. other wise this is an amazing series and I highly recommend it. tons of paranormal fun for all!

Kirk speaks
Was like listening to William Shatner perform. Choppy. Emotionless.
But the world, and contrived situations are fun

Ok story
I thought the story was dry at times and predictable. the narrator was often monogamous tone not giving thr character the emotion they deserved.

I would not recommend this book
While I hate to criticize people hard work, the combination of the narrator's style and the writer's style was not to my liking.
