Summary

Wish You Were Dead is a Quick Read short story from best-selling author Peter James.

Roy Grace and his family have left Sussex behind for a week’s holiday in France. The website promised a grand house, but when they arrive the place is very different from the pictures. And it soon becomes clear that their holiday nightmare is only just beginning.

An old enemy of Roy, a lowlife criminal he had put behind bars, is now out of jail - and out for revenge. He knows where Roy and his family have gone on holiday. Of course he does. He’s been hacking their emails - and they are in the perfect spot for him to pay Roy back.

Short entertaining story

A mini-thriller with a couple of twists - entertaining and some funny bits - not sure what accent the young child is meant to have though - that was confusing in the otherwise excellent performance. The cover image of a swimming pool also an odd choice given the setting of the story.

Goodness that was a short Grace book.

Enjoyed it but surprised at its short length as I didn’t see that before I started it.

Excellent.

This is a most enjoyable short story. I am slowly working my way through the Roy Grace books and when I saw this short I thought I'd try it next. Set abroad, Grace and his family and friends are taking a break from his crime fighting job but find themselves mixed up in a most alarming mystery. Good charcters well voiced by the narrator. Definitely recommend for all Peter James fans and many others who enjoy a good mystery. *****

Great short read

Everything I read from Peter James is fantastic. I am one of his fans and this book didn’t let me down. Short? I knew that before I started and was not disappointed. Well written and full of surprises.

A bit short ( on impact as well)

Somewhat laboured at times. Not sure I get the point of such a short novel

Oh dear!

Not the best Roy Grace story, seems very amateurish to be honest. Glad I didn’t use a credit on it.

Enjoyable jaunt

I knew this was a quick read when I started it so wasn't surprised by that at all. What I was surprised by was that I should have listened to this BEFORE book 17. If you've read/listened to this and 17 you'll know why, I won't spoil it for future readers/listeners but I have to say that you need to listen to 17 AFTER this or it just makes no damn sense at all.

Thoroughly enjoyable short story and it was great to see Peter James' foray into the shorter story field.

Dissappointing

This short book lacks the usual gripping content of Roy Grace books. Won't put me off though!
