Summary

A job, a true love, a baby, a cure...

We’re all waiting for something from God. And the place between his answers can feel like a wasteland where dreams - and faith - go to die. When we’re waiting, we wonder, “Why?”, “Why me?”, and “How long?” But the truth?...

When God says, “Wait,” he doesn’t tell us for how long. When God says, “Wait,” we face one of life’s greatest tests. When God says, “Wait,” we have decisions to make. When God says, “Wait,” we can control only two things: how we wait, and who we become along the way.

Author Elizabeth Laing Thompson invites you to walk alongside people of the Bible who had to wait on God...imperfect heroes like David, Miriam, Naomi, Sarah, Joseph, and others. Their stories will provide a roadmap for your own story, helping you navigate the painful, lonely territory of waiting, coming out on the other side with your faith, relationships, and sense of humor intact. They might even help you learn to enjoy the ride. This book is about the journey of waiting, the space between answers, and the people we become while we live there.

Life changing!

I reached for this book during a time of desperation, and in a need of serious motivation and comfort - and it did not let me down. Elizabeth’s warm tone of writing; her deep, raw storytelling and pull from her own experiences and the bible, throughly moved me. She felt like a friend, a sister really: a familiar voice of guidance and comfort. The stories gave me faith and strenght as I needed them, the journal prompts helped me sort my own feelings out, and the prayer prompts helped me voice my desperation to God. I am so pleased I stumbled upon this book (and Elizabeth herself) as my view on desperately waiting is now forever changed. This book was a clear answer to my prayers when I was in need. It was throughly life changing and in my opinion a definite must read for anyone in waiting.

Seriously great

have a short attention span when it comes to Christian books. Unfortunately, a lot of them bore me after a while, but THIS was something I couldn't "put down. " This was truly "a word" from God. Thank you for writing this book. It speaks to you in ways that others attempt to, but just don't quite deliver in fullness.

Awesome!!!!

This book makes me feel like I am sitting down for coffee with a good friend! I love the imagery used to describe the stories in the Bible as well as the author sharing her personal journey. I love that she is real and relatable and gives us courage to be completely honest with God, dream, believe and wait. Thank you Elizabeth Laing Thompson...especially for making this an audiobook!! I am forever grateful!

Great read for anyone seeking comfort in their times of waiting.

Excellent, motivating, life changing; written in such a personal way that I could relate to. I laughed, cried and rejoiced as Liz told her story and those of others. The Bible came to life as its characters were “ fleshed out.” Great read for anybody seeking comfort while in their waiting room.

Great Read

Going through a similar situation allowed me to see things from a different angle. I cried, I laughed, I shared stories with my hubby as I found a connection of what she went through and what I am currently going through today.

Gave me hope in my situation, that although God is currently saying wait, that some where in my future lays a “Yes, now it’s time to share your testimony”.

I’m glad God directed you to write this book, because I needed it.

God bless

Bitter No More!

When God Says "Wait" by Elizabeth Laing Thompson is a good read for any woman waiting on ANYTHING from God. It's ESPECIALLY great for those having trouble conceiving children. Because we give birth to PURPOSE as well as children, I'd recommend the book to those birthing purpose babies too. When God Says "Wait" provides helpful perspective on how to wait and hear from God even when waiting has embittered you.

Encouraging

The connections of Bible stories to personal experiences created an applicable story that has encouraged me in a rough waiting period of my own. I found myself agreeing thoroughly with experiences the author shared and felt humbled by what God spoke through this. Very encouraging read if you're waiting!
