Summary

For the first time, Andrew Ridgeley - one-half of one of the most famous bands in the world - tells the inside story of Wham!, his lifelong friendship with George Michael and the formation of a band that changed the shape of the music scene in the early '80s.

In 1975 Andrew took a shy new boy at school under his wing. They instantly hit it off, and their boyhood escapades at Bushy Meads School built a bond that was never broken. The duo found themselves riding an astonishing roller coaster of success, taking them all over the world. They made and broke iconic records, they were treated like gods but they stayed true to their friendship and ultimately to themselves. It was a party that seemed as if it would never end. And then it did, in front of tens of thousands of tearful fans at Wembley Stadium in 1986.

Andrew's memoir covers in wonderful detail those years, up until that last iconic concert: the scrapes, the laughs, the relationships, the good and the bad. It's a unique and one-and-only time to remember that era, that band and those boys.

lovely story of 2 pals

I loved the way andrew spoke so warmly of his friendship with George/Yog. it was interesting to see how young bands were basically conned out of their hard earned cash in the 80's and probably decades before. it was just lovely to listen to and would recommend to any Wham or George Michael fan.

WhAm, George & Me

Brilliant. I would highly recommend this, it brought back a lot of memories for me. Andrew narrated this very well. Obviously a sad ending, but a good tribute to George.

Great Memoir

Andrew has written a very personal and heartfelt memoir that is needed to bring truth and clarity to the times of Wham. I always felt that he was treated so badly by the tabloids and was portrayed as George's talentless sidekick. He has an eloquent voice and is very articulate throughout the book. This is such a great Audible book

Moving love letter to a best friend

I thoroughly enjoyed Andrew Ridgeley's memoir of Wham! and his best friendship with the man the world knew as George Michael. The book was made even better listening to the author himself on the Audible version. It was great as a fan to relive those memories with him and get a glimpse behind the scenes. Well written and pacy, I got through it in only a few days. Highly recommended.

Brilliant

i throughly enjoyed listening to this book. sometimes had me in tears sometimes had me laughing out loud. It was my era, my heros and i could relate to all the names mentioned. Some of the story i had heard at the time , some of the facts were great to hear. I truly enjoyed getting the story straight from one who know. ( if you were there, then you would know). if your a fan of Wham, then buy this, you'll love it. well done Andy for everything. x

A nostalgic listen... just lovely

I’m so sad to finish this. Andrew tells this story eloquently and the friendship is conveyed in this book beautifully. It also reinforces the joint talent they shared as Wham, George wasn’t responsible for success alone. Loving to Ridgely right now, he’s such a terrific guy.
