Summary
A brand new collection of short stories featuring the Queen of Crime’s legendary detective Jane Marple, penned by twelve remarkable bestselling and acclaimed authors.
Read by Alex Kingston, Adrian Scarborough, Adjoa Andoh, Imogen Stubbs, Alison Steadman, Jodhi May, Chipo Chung, Cathy Tyson, Ramon Tikaram, Tanya Reynolds, Celia Imrie and Miriam Margolyes.
This collection of twelve original short stories, all featuring Jane Marple, will introduce the character to a whole new generation. Each author reimagines Agatha Christie’s Marple through their own unique perspective while staying true to the hallmarks of a traditional mystery.

Miss Marple was first introduced to readers in a story Christie wrote for The Royal Magazine in 1927 and made her first appearance in a full-length novel in 1930s The Murder at the Vicarage. It has been 45 years since Agatha Christie’s last Marple novel, Sleeping Murder, was published posthumously in 1976, and this collection of ingenious new stories by twelve Christie devotees will be a timely reminder why Jane Marple remains the most famous fictional female detective of all time.
Critic reviews
"Each author captures Christie—and Marple—perfectly, while also displaying just a bit of her own unique touch." (The Washington Post)
"Without a doubt, the greatest mystery writer of all time." (Ragnar Jonasson)
"A hundred years after her first novel, and we are all still standing in her shadow." (Andrew Taylor)

Good to have new Marple's after Poirot's lifeline
In the main I enjoyed this collection, although some of the characterisations of Miss Marple are a little incongruous to her age. The best interpretation comes from Celia Imrie yet this is the worst recording as it seems to have been uploaded without any review of the recording. Repeated readings and coughing are not what would be expected on a book of this quality.
Hope there are more new Marple stories given the success of the new Poirot books we've had.

Bought this on a whim and it was excellent
I enjoyed all of these stories. The authors caught Christie's voice very well. Some were inevitably better than others but none were poor.

Enjoyable but not mind-blowing collection
I've never read any of Christie's Marple stories but I am familiar with the character and I've read several Poirot books.
These short stories capture the character of Miss Marple and the authors manage to put their own style in while keeping the narrative within a Christie feel.
I'm a bit of a detective novel fan and the thing about these stories is that they are pretty standard. Nothing out of the ordinary or ground breaking really. The best way to describe them is that the are just nice stories. And there's the issue. I don't need such stories to be violent or gory or modern but these are just a little bland and a tad boring. To the extent that having just finished the audio book I can't really remember any of them.
I enjoyed them and the performances but I just didn't find them memorable.

Performance over substance
A forgettable collection of Miss Marple stories, where the performance by each narrator out shines the texts.

A collection of ho-hum tales, badly edited
With a couple of exceptions these are humdrum stories. The editing is appalling - unless you like listening to narrators repeating themselves, correcting their pronunciation and clearing their throats (Celia Imrie especially). Wow this was disappointing.

Giving up on this one - struggling to finish
Miss Marple in name only: I've listened to half but haven't engaged with any story.

Shame about the poor recording of Celia Imrie
Celia's reading is full of stumbles and errors that should have been edited out.
Otherwise a mixed bag, sometimes very obvious and sometimes copying the methods of earlier Marple stories.

Uniform high standard
Would love to see more from these authors. Quality of writing is superb, catching the spirit of Miss Marple. The occasional nod to modern sensibility is pitched just right. Having multiple high quality narrators helps in creating a distinct atmosphere for each story
