About this listen

From the best-selling author of A Place Called Winter, Tree Surgery for Beginners is a funny, elegant and eclectic novel of love, lies and the secrets we live with.

When Lawrence Frost wakes up one morning to discover his wife and child have gone missing, there is gruesome evidence to suggest he may be the main suspect in a murder investigation. Confused, threatened with the loss of everything he loves, Lawrence is sent to the Caribbean on a kill-or-cure cruise. On board and ashore he will discover love, deceit, the truth about his missing family and the blessings that come with surrendering to destiny.

Excellent

Great story & narration. A real treat to listen to. The twists and turns of the plot moved the story along space. Hard to stop listening!

Really enjoyable read

A little slow to get going and at times serious the book became an imaginative free for all towards the end.

Wide ranging subject matter

You know that you will get unpredictability from Patrick Gale.. Doesn't disappoint. Moving and emotional.

All far too conveniently coincidental

Nicely / politely written and read but everything that happens just seems so conveniently coincidental to be truly believable. You can spot when Patrick has been itching to add a certain phrase or idiom that it just seems quite clunky. Characters not particularly rounded or 3 dimensional.

Not his best book.
