Summary
For nearly 10 millennia, the Crimson Fists waged war against the enemies of mankind from their home planet of Rynn's World. And then, in one cataclysmic event, Rynn's World fell, despoiled by the hordes of the orks.
Six months later, Chapter Master Pedro Kantor leads the shattered remnants of his Space Marines in pursuit of a force of greenskins still clinging to life in the mountains of the devastated world. But when they are drawn into a trap, Kantor and his battle-brothers realise that they have massively underestimated their foe...

Excellent Story
As a Crimson Fist army collector it’s always nice to come across stories of my favourite legion. This was no different, a very cool story covering the ruination of Rynns World, that sees the chapter almost pushed to extinction! A must have for any fan of the Fists and their successor chapters.

Pedro Kantor is an absolute giga chad.
it was great, the foreshadowing of future events was very mysterious, the way Pedro's mere existence changes the fate of millions. very cool. although, the fact that in the ork mobs there were only around 80 Gretchen, compared to the couple thousand orks. the author seemed to forget that ork spores exist, so squigs and Gretchen grow everywhere to provide the bigger orks another food source. I did like how pragmatic Pedro was near the end. good read. good performance.

Some good moments, mostly average though
Hmmm.. I would really recommend Mike Lee's other book, Legacy of Dorn. I thought this was an okay story. Some good moments, like the warboss at the end. Reader's eldar voice bothered me, made them all sound old. But, that's just my preference. Overall, decent little listen, but I wouldn't buy it for my bookshelf.

Nonstop action, to a fault.
If your favorite part of 40k is the action parts then this is your book but if you like any type of character building, story, plot development or anything of the like... you'll end up horribly disappointed. I'm not exaggerating when I say that from start to finish this entire short story consists of 90% fighting and scenes involving combat, with 10% dedicated to anything else. This book is like watching a fireworks show of nothing but grand finales, if just gets tiring after the first hour. I was really hoping Pedro Kantor as a character would have gotten delved into a bit more, but the book doesnt focus on character development whatsoever, instead jumping from one scene of combat to the next, to the next, then to the next one, another and finally ending on another. Its impressive the author managed to write Space Marine combat fairly interestingly for 4 hours straight, but I would be lying if i said i wish it pulled back a little and talked about Rynns World, Pedro Kantor, the remaining Crimson Fists, anything really. Instead, you get a story of Pedro leading a squad through multiple combat scenarios and ultimately fighting at a location called Traitors Gorge which ends rather anticlimactic. I'd say out of 10 I would give it maybe a 6, probably a 5.

Awesome short story that's well worth the lessen.
Sweet and to the point. The Crimson Fists are a super underrated chapter that gets to shine in this story. In the aftermath of devastation, Pedro Kantor and his brothers keep fighting to rid his world of the Orks. While defeated, they still need to be vanquished with fire and fury. Love a good action story of survival and struggle, get this book.
