Summary

Brought to you by Penguin.

This audiobook in The Thursday Murder Club series is read by a new narrator, Fiona Shaw.

A new mystery is afoot in the third book in the Thursday Murder Club series from record-breaking, bestselling author Richard Osman.

This audiobook includes an exclusive interview between Richard Osman and journalist and TV presenter Steph McGovern.

It is an ordinary Thursday, and things should finally be returning to normal.

Except trouble is never far away where the Thursday Murder Club are concerned. A local news legend is on the hunt for a sensational headline, and soon the gang are hot on the trail of two murders, ten years apart.

To make matters worse, a new nemesis pays Elizabeth a visit, presenting her with a deadly mission: kill or be killed...

While Elizabeth grapples with her conscience (and a gun), the gang and their unlikely new friends (including TV stars, money launderers and ex-KGB colonels) unravel a new mystery. But can they catch the culprit and save Elizabeth before the murderer strikes again?

Fantastic

Another fantastic book with a few more lovable characters. As expected the change in narrator was strange but the book is so good you soon forget. I feared with it being book 3 the author would loose a character but thankfully they are all still with us. Because of this I am looking forward to book 4. I loved it !

Don't let the shock of the new narrator put you of

I was 20 seconds in before I was pausing and checking who narrated the first 2 and who was narrating the 3rd. I was outraged about the change at first but within a few chapters I was well embedded with Fiona Shaw and she did a really good job of keeping the same tone of voice and accents of our much loved charactes and I was happily oblivious for the rest of the book.

Richard Osman is a genius. I loved this 3rd installment so very much. The characters are just perfection and even if the plot was lacking I'd happily read books about the TMC just going about their lives. But luckily the plot is also superb with loads of clever twists and turns and red herrings on red herrings 5/5

Brilliant!

I admit that it took me a couple of chapters to adjust to the new narrator, but once I did I really enjoyed this third book in the series.
All of the old characters return for another funny and moving and clever adventure.
Don’t be put off by the negative reviews about the change of narrator, or if you are put off then of course you can read the book.

Another excellent listen

Once you get over the initial shock of a different narrator, you’ll soon once again get lost in the world of Coopers Chase and the escapades of four of its residents & their trustee comrades. I couldn’t put it down, much to my regret as I’ve now got a year to wait until my next fix.

Good Listening

A super follow on story. Characters live on the page. Thank you Richard. As an ex Sussex born and bred it's wonderful to live there through your pen. Richard's talk about his writing afterwards is illuminating. I would love to write but the talk makes me realise it's an impossible dream.

When you look backward everything seems inevitable

Third in the Murder Club outings, this time read by a different narrator: Fiona Shaw. Whilst it can be disruptive to change readers during a series, this time it is definitely for the better. Ms.Shaw gave a fine performance with good pacing and interesting voice texture throughout. As with most women, she is not really convincing in producing a believable male voice but this did not matter in the overall impression left by the delicious timbre of her tone.

A fun book with great characters, their thoughts and interactions and an intriguing, if silly, story of murder, money, old age, friendship, and tentative love. Funny crime, heart warming and recommended.

Third instalment is a roller coaster

I love these books and can’t wait for the fourth. This one had many twists and turns and the gang at coopers chase are so resilient, creative and heartwarming. A real caper. And who doesn’t love Alan.
