Summary
Clashing empires, forbidden romance and a long-forgotten queen destined to save her people—New York Times best-selling author Tahereh Mafi’s first novel in this epic, romantic fantasy series inspired by Persian mythology.
To all the world, Alizeh is a disposable servant, not the long-lost heir to an ancient Jinn kingdom forced to hide in plain sight.
The crown prince, Kamran, has heard the prophecies foretelling the death of his king. But he could never have imagined that the servant girl with the strange eyes, the girl he can’t put out of his mind, would one day soon uproot his kingdom—and the world.
Perfect for fans of Leigh Bardugo, Tomi Adeyemi and Sabaa Tahir, this is the explosive first book in a new fantasy trilogy from the New York Times best-selling and National Book Award-nominated author Tahereh Mafi.
Critic reviews
"In a tale as exquisitely crafted as one of Alizeh’s own garments, Mafi weaves a spell of destiny and danger, forbidden love and courtly intrigue, magic and revolution." (Cassandra Clare, number one New York Times best-selling author of The Last Hours)
"This story is so magical and transportive that I fully expected the book would know the moment I'd finished - within hours, no less - and promptly unravel into a pile of jewels and silks in my hands. Mafi's diamond-bright lyrical voice weaves a tale that is gilded in magic, laced with subterfuge, adorned with the brocade of a tortuous romance and richly embroidered with Persian mythology. I cannot wait for more." (Roshani Chokshi, New York Times best-selling author of The Gilded Wolves)
"I've been longing to read a story inspired by The Shahnameh, and This Woven Kingdom captivated me with its deft worldbuilding and searing romance. Alizeh's quiet strength unfurls against a darkly magical backdrop. This book is a glittering jewel, complete with razor-sharp edges." (Renée Ahdieh, number one New York Times best-selling author of the Wrath and the Dawn series)

Loved it!
I just love the main character. She is not only badass but also has this great personality. So well constructed. All characters are so vivid. The plot was great. It has everything I love in fantasy. I just can't wait for the continuation.

Slow to start, but well worth staying the course
Struggled to get started, but really worth sticking with.
I found the start slow and fairly mundane. I thought it was going to be one of those books that got relegated to a time where I had nothing better to listen to. I could not of been more wrong.
I won't spoil it for anyone, but I will recommend it. Thoroughly enjoyable, despite its slow start

A bit slow but ok
I did like this audiobook but it became slow at times and there were not many scenes with romantic chemistry, if you would like the beginning of a love story this is a pretty ok book but if you were expecting smut then this book is not for you, it’s more sweet then anything and has an interesting world building. The voice acting was ok but it was hard to distinguish between the guys when she spoke, the dialogue did most of the work which for me is a bad sign for an audiobook.

It’s good however the characters are inconsistent in there intelligence
The main character is supposed to be a very clever girl however she keeps doing things that make no sense and sometimes even put her life in danger! Oftentimes this doesn’t even further the plot!
However other times she is shown to be incredibly intelligent wich makes her stupid mistakes feel all the more stupid! And it’s incredibly infuriating!
Other then that I absolutely love this book and it is very interesting and well worded! It is perfect for anyone trying to pick up new vocabulary!

Exquisite
The story is captivating and the narrator perfectly captures and brings to life the gorgeous poetic and floral writing style of Tahereh Mafi. This story is such a gem I can’t wait to listen to the next instalment. I’m also going to buy the books for the family.

Enjoyable, but you need book 2!
I have enjoyed this, but found it a bit slow in places. I was disappointed to find it was only half the story and doesn’t really work as a stand alone book. I have downloaded the second book, but not yet listened to it. It is difficult to rate half a story, but would say it is a solid 3 * so far. It has kept me engaged enough to spend another credit,,,

loved it!
This was fantastic!
The characters were great and had very witty conversations which made it even better.
The ending did feel slightly rushed but nothing too drastic. The rest of the story was lovely and moved at a good pace, really easy listening while doing some work.
Overall a really enjoyable story
