Summary

I was in my garage when the space elves addressed the whole world.

They didn't call themselves space elves, of course. Most humans struggled to pronounce Khjurhnalva, so we opted for the easier version. They had a message for us: Forces that had eradicated their species' males were now heading for Earth.

Hungry for our resources, the alien hordes annihilate everything that stands in their way. The space elves offered us access to the System and asked for very little in return. After all, cooperation was vital to the survival of both our species.

I, Mathew Alexander Dunphy, know all of the above is bullshit. I saw the truth with my own eyes and heard it from their beautiful, delicate, deceitful mouths. No one believes me, though. They call me mad.

What reason could the space elves have to lie?

Planet-wide-survival reality show?

Ridiculous.

Don't miss the start of a fun new LitRPG series in a system apocalypse setting and featuring mad scientist powers, along with plenty of laughs. Oh, and killer aliens. Lots of em.

About the MAD world: Not all game-mechanic systems hand out levels, stats, and skills. Sometimes it offers super powers and leaves the progression up to the user. What is LitRPG without the fan-favorite blue boxes, though? Instead of STR, DEX, AGI, expect them to house crafting-based notifications.

Theres no story

The first 30 mins is interesting and the synopsis hooks you in. But then the book becomes all about describing items and weapons and how to make them. last 30 minutes gets more interesting.

you'd be mad not to give this a chance!

the story and narrator are a perfect match, skillful narration brought an already enjoyable story to life and more!
although there are already a lot of litRPG stories out there this one definitely tickled my childish, geeky gamer and sci fi fan sides! well worth the listen!

Good

This is not my normal choice, but thoroughly enjoyed the start of the series, and I'm tempted to get the rest.
The characters are well developed, and the story moves along at a good pace. Even though set in our world that is taken over by aliens and the human population are plunged into a game system, portrayed as a reality game show for other aliens. The author manages to bring enough interest to the story, that all the game and levelling references become part of the tale.
Well written, and excellently performed.

loved it!

Can't wait for the next one. If you like stats and points and sensible physics it's not for you - but if you usually skip past the numbers you'll love it. Suspend your disbelief and go along for the ride.
