Summary
Arah's amazing jouney into the magical world. Buy it today!
In a small, medieval village lives the 13-year-old Arah, who was raised as an orphan in the household of the kind pastor. Arah loves books and often retreats into her own dream world. A significant day comes when a travelling exorcist comes into the village searching for hidden witches. Although Arah likes to fantasize about magic and deep down in her heart would love to have magical powers, she can only listen to the exorcist's words with suspicion. There could not possibly be witches in the real world....
When she is suddenly accused of being a witch, it is time for her to flee. The girl does not yet know that the exorcist’s allegations are actually correct. Only when Arah meets the real magic she understands more and more who she really is. A journey full of suspense and danger awaits the girl during which she not only finally finds out who her parents are, but also discovers love for the first time.

Lots of fantasy fun for all ages
A great afternoon's listening to be had, with charming young characters and fun magical concepts. Finn was one of my favourites. Not quite sure where is left to go for a sequel, but I'll be excited to listen to book 2 all the same and see where everything leads.

Really entertaining, engaging story. The narration makes the story though. Can't find any other books by Bill Allender and he's so lovely to listen too! Had to return books before due to bad narrators so wish we could have more of this chap!

Enjoyable
I received this book for free. I am voluntarily posting this review and all opinions expressed herein are my own.
Based on the blurb and the cover art, I thought that this would be a more creepy kind of tale and perhaps, reminiscent of the Salem witch trials. It is not. It is well-written quick story with enjoyable characters. It is a good family book - starting from the age of 11 or 12. There is no swearing or violence.
The story drew me in from the beginning and I enjoyed the main character, Arah, her growth; her learning to do magic; and her interest in discovering her family. The ending was a bit rushed - almost like a quick wrap of the events. I wish more time had been spent on it.
The narrator, Bill Allender, did a very good job. He has a very pleasant voice and a good narration pace. Because of the narration, I was more drawn into this story.

A uniquely creepy tale
The basic concept behind Miss Peregrine’s Home for Marlene Beer was a very interesting one. A young boy growing up hearing tall tales from his grandfather about Kids and Adults who could levitate and light a fire in their hands, children who were stronger than most grown adults, and a boy who had wasps living inside him

YAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAY!!!!!!!!!!
A. MA.ZING.
The narrative was engrossing, perhaps a little heavy on the foreshadowing, but I suppose that's necessary for a suspenseful story. There were still plenty of surprises along the way that made me think, "Why didn't I see that coming?"

Great audiobook done justice by a great narrator
I can't seen any point in recapping the plot because I just assume everyone has read at least the first book, but I can tell you that listening to them is an "immersive" experience. Of course, that's true of any book, but the richness of Beer's characters, settings and situations are brought to life, in my opinion, in an entirely different way when you listen to Bill Allender read them to you.
