Summary

There’s an old saying - If you can’t beat ‘em, join ‘em.

Paul, a human living in a bear shifter world, and his best friend Jon get home from Alaska with an extra addition. While he’s happy for his friend, Paul can’t help the increasingly nagging feeling that things shouldn’t be as they are. And things only get worse when he finds his apartment gutted by his drug-addicted little brother.

After landing himself in a police cell for assault, Paul starts a plan to reconstruct his life. He just didn’t plan that forcing one person out would let someone else in.

Stuck in the cell next to Paul’s, McKayla contemplates how fate could have such a messed up sense of humor. Who knew she’d find a highly compatible mate in jail? After the bar fight that led to her arrest, she meets Paul through the cell bars, but their time together is both short and confusing.

Can Paul and McKayla overcome the hurdles of a human and a shifter mating? Does fate have hidden plans for the man born to the wrong species?

I got this audiobook via a promo code and this is my voluntary review.

This is book 3 of the UnBearable series, it acts as a more direct companion to Book 2.
What a romantic tale of finding your soul mate. While they were both in the police station's holding cells, McKayla, who wasn't looking for a partner, discovered Paul. They later cross paths during a bowling alley meeting of shifters.
As soon as they met, McKayla knew Paul was the one for her. Even if she is a female shifter and hes a human.
When they arrived at the bowling alley, Paul realised he was McKayla's Mate.
Paul's closest friend, Jon, was delighted for him. But then odd things started to happen.
How would Paul and McKayla fare? Would it work if McKayla was a bear shifter and Paul was a human?
An excellent read. I liked it.

This was my first story by Audra Cook, she has a pleasant voice to listen to.

A shirt shifter story.

This is a short shifter story. Presumably dye to the length it is a bit one dimensional but still a pleasure to hear.

Different angle

This was different from the normal shifter/human books I’ve read/listened to as it’s the male that’s the human and not the female. I enjoyed this aspect a lot. Great performance.
