Summary

A regular weekday morning veers drastically off-course for a group of strangers whose paths cross in a London café - their lives never to be the same again when an apparently crazed gunman holds them hostage.

But there is more to the situation than first meets the eye, and as the captives grapple with their own inner demons, the line between right and wrong starts to blur. Will the secrets they keep stop them from escaping with their lives?

Another tense, multi-dimensional drama from the writer of the Richard & Judy best seller After the Fall.

Duvet! It's bloody Duvet!

Good, unique storyline which kept me interested. Narration was fine except for "juvay" ... its bloody Duvet! Drove me mad every time... and there seemed to be lots of Juvays 😖😖😖

A fantastic story told by a very accomplished story teller

I wasn’t too sure when I started listening. But what a tale this was. Absolutely riveting tale of incredible hardship and strength. The characters are so vividly drawn. A simple excellent story and so well delivered by the narrator.

A few twists but great story

I really enjoyed this book. I like most of the characters, and how the writer developed them. I also enjoyed the plot line and where the writer took the storyline. It had a bit of a neat ending but still not enough to make me feel I would be ill.

I was Hooked from the start. Gripping stories within the story. Loved the characters, especially Mutesi. I felt very invested in the people. Loved it.

incredible!

From the very first page, this book is brilliantly written and performed. The characters are all thought out and believable. Each back story is just as interesting as the main story.

How anyone could berate Julie Maisey's performance is beyond me. How she could perform effortlessly each person, with so many perfect accents baffles me.

I know I'll be listening to this again and again. I will also be looking out for both the Author and Narrator in other books.

Such a good book

This book was so different & refreshing as alot if books seem to be written along the same lines at the moment. It really gave an insight if how others lives affect us on a daily basis, I wish it had ended differently but we all want a hapoy ending I think. Written & read extremely well.

Intertwining plot with strong character developmen

I didn't read much about the book, plot or author before reading this book so came in with no expectations. you are invited to get the know the characters as you come into their lives through their inner and expressed narrative. The author works through the different plots into one another in the most palatable manner. I love the variety of relatability through story telling and sharing of experiences, and whilst some characters tore your heart open a little wider and deeper, the underlying presents of the complexity of humankind, human suffering, empathy, cruelty and pain came through in all of it.

It isn't an easy read, but it is an impactful one. the whispersync portrayed the accents and various characters fairly wall which of course made the read even more enjoyable.
