Summary

Three complete novels in the Sam Reilly series!

The Ironclad Covenant

On May 18th, 1863 - the day the siege of the Confederate stronghold at Vicksburg began - a secret war chest was removed by an ironclad and taken away along the Mississippi River. It contained a Covenant capable of altering the entire course of the Civil War. Its destination was Washington, D.C.

A place it never reached.

In the present day, Minnesotan senator Arthur Perry has enlisted the help of Sam Reilly to track down his son, who went missing while following a strange lead in the centuries old search for the fabled Meskwaki Gold Spring within Lake Superior. No one could have suspected that these two events, separated by more than 150 years, were inextricably linked....

The Heisenberg Legacy

On January the 22nd, 1945, a secret weapon of unimaginable power was brought from the quiet town of Haigerloch in Germany’s southwest, and loaded onto a plane waiting at Stuttgart. Less than a dozen people knew of the weapon’s existence, and even less knew where it was being taken. The aircraft, its crew, and its remarkable cargo were never seen again.

Until now.

When the wreckage of the aircraft is located in present day Washington, D.C., with no sign of its deadly cargo on board, Sam Reilly is called in to investigate. But the situation soon erupts into something much more dangerous than a simple recovery mission....

Omega Deep

Name: USS Omega Deep

Cost: 30 billion dollars

Class: Experimental

Noise Emissions: Undetectable by current sound monitoring capabilities

Current Status: Unknown. Last contact 96 days ago. Presumed sunk. 192 souls lost.

The US Navy’s most advanced nuclear attack submarine, the USS Omega Deep was the first to disappear. It was followed swiftly by the loss of the Russian spy vessel Vostok, and then the Feng Jian, a Chinese Aircraft Carrier.

Sam Reilly and his unique team of troubleshooters are requested at the express order of the president of the United States of America to locate the Omega Deep and determine the cause of these unexplained tragedies, before they lead to World War III.

Another great collection of stories

I always find these stories entertaining, a traditional adventure where the goodies beat the baddies and it's all ok in the end

the narrator was excellent as usual, I always enjoy listening to him. He speaks clearly and with enthusiasm, he also had a good go at the accents.

I will continue to listen and enjoy this series of books

Three Sam Reilly books - you can't say no to that!

I really like this series. In fact I keep saying that its my current favourite of all my audiobooks. They are so different but keep with a theme around the Master Builders which personally I really, really like the idea of. This collection really gives us a mixture of different types of Sam Reilly adventures. They are all great. In fact all Sam Reilly adventures have been great. I really like these books. He's an intelligent hero, a man who acknowledges the fact that he relies on his friends. Its a mixed bag of friends from all over the world which I think is also great. Basically we are on a roller-coaster ride that is entertaining from start to finish!!

Worth a credit

I am a keen reader of the genre and this time I listened to Sam & Tom’s adventures as background entertainment whilst undertaking mundane tasks. The stories have good plots but lack the excitement and pace of other authors (Eg. Rollins or Baldacci) due to the overly descriptive detail provided for each scene. The narrator has a limited range of voices which is at odds with some of the characters physical descriptions however, if you get past this then you can expect to be pleasantly entertained, albeit at a gentle pace.

If you've gotten this far, you know you're hooked!

Sam Reilley is a wealthy marine biologist that, with his friend and co-worker Tom, goes on hunts for various mythological items. He goes on several adventures, with each story detailing one or more treasures to be found. Finding the treasures often involve dangerous trials, including battling with the “bad guys”, and saving the world from destruction.

Volume 4 of the Sam Reilley Collection contains the following stories:

The Ironclad Covenant (Sam Reilly Book 10)
Sam is asked to track down a senator’s missing son who disappeared while searching for the gold spring. This is somehow linked to a secret war chest that disappeared hundreds of years ago. I love the history in this one, very fascinating.

The Heisenberg Legacy (Sam Reilly Book 11)
The wreckage of an aircraft is discovered, with no evidence of the secret to a deadly weapon it was meant to be carrying. Sam goes on a recovery mission, that turns out to be more than he bargained for. There was good interweaving of various stories and nail biting build up. Love it!

Omega Deep (Sam Reilly Book 12)
A nuclear attack submarine disappears. When a spy vessel and aircraft also disappear, Sam is tasked with finding them before the world goes to war. An interesting story packed full of action and adventure.

The stories are packed with descriptive scenes, life threatening situations, fast paced action and archaeological treasure hunting. They are cleverly unraveled to keep the listener excited and intrigued throughout, not to mention to hear the next stories in the series. The genre reminds me of Indiana Jones, James Bond and the like. Not only are they filled with action and adventure, I feel that I was also educated by them. There are so many fascinating facts coming through about various mythological things, some of which I had heard of and learned more about, and some that I hadn’t heard of before and learned all about in the books. The stories are well written with cleverly built up plots and characters, including twists and turns throughout. They follow a series with ongoing relationships and themes, but with a new adventure each time. Sometimes other stories are mentioned in other books that elude to future upcoming adventures, or previously completed adventures. The series is absolutely addictive and interesting and I cannot wait to hear the next ones!

David narrated expertly. With excellent intonation for various characters and energy and passion throughout the series. He was a perfect fit for what I believe the stories’ perspectives to sound like. There were also some interesting audio elements coming through like hearing two people speak at the same time and hearing people speak through voice scramblers. Overall, the performance was masterful and absolutely added to my enjoyment thereof.

I highly recommend this series. Be warned though, once you start you may not be able to stop!

Not the best

Although I like the premise and the main protagonist I found myself happy to be done. For me, the plotting was pretty iffy, especially in the first story where the majority of plot advancement relied on outrageous coincidence.

I thought the vocal performance to be sub par, with the narrator struggling with accents as well as good differentiation of the characters.

I did enjoy parts but I won’t be buying any more of the series.

This book needs better editing

Same characters are two different ranks. Wasn’t anyone paying attention? Just one example. Last time I waste my time. Stories are okay. But now aliens in an underground continent? Seriously?

GREAT SERIES

The Ironclad Covenant, my tenth read from author Christopher Cartwright & the tenth book in the highly entertaining Sam Reilly series. A well-written thriller with captivating & well-developed main characters. Reminds me of Dan Brown’s early writing as well as the character of Indiana Jones. Since I live in northern Michigan & am employed by Beneteau North America the setting & some aspects of the book had particular appeal to me.
The Heisenberg Legacy, my eleventh read from author Christopher Cartwright & the eleventh book in the highly entertaining Sam Reilly series. Well-written thriller with captivating & well-developed main characters. Reminds me of Dan Brown’s writing.
Omega Deep, my twelfth read from author Christopher Cartwright & the twelfth book in the highly entertaining Sam Reilly series. Well-written thriller with captivating & well-developed main characters. Reminds me of Dan Brown’s writing. These books have been a rollicking adventure & I’ll be reading more by this author as I already own more books in the series and am looking for sales to buy more yet! Can't Get Enough!!

I absolutely love this series!! Sam Reilly takes us on such a wonderful adventure! I have listened to all the books so far (all twelve books) and look forward to more. I thoroughly enjoy Christopher Cartwright's writing. This series is full of adventure, paranormal, suspense, mystery, humor and plenty of twists and turns. I love it. There's history mixed expertly with the modern. The narration is, as usual, superbly done! David Gilmore is a wonderful narrator. He gives each character their own voices and emotions. He keeps Sam's voice the same throughout and I can't imagine anyone else doing this series. He really helps the books to come alive and pulls you into the adventures, submerging the listener into a world you don't want to end. I have recommend earlier books to my friends and will continue to do so! If you haven't checked this series out then you are truly missing out!

Wonderful as always!

The story just keeps building! The series is so wonderfully done, and it’s not over yet! I can’t wait to see where it goes from here! I highly recommend you start from the beginning, and listen to the whole series. If you like ancient mysteries, or destination unknown, you will love these books! The narrator does a wonderful job through the entire series.
