Summary

They are the Reapers, the elite among killers. Men so terrifying that their names are mentioned only in whispers. The assassin Louis is one of them. But now Louis, and his partner, Angel, are themselves targets. And there is no shortage of suspects. A wealthy recluse sends them north to a town that no longer exists on a map. A town ruled by a man with very personal reasons for wanting Louis's blood spilt. There they find themselves trapped, isolated, and at the mercy of a killer feared above all others: the assassin of assassins, Bliss.

Thanks to former detective Charlie Parker, help is on its way. But can Angel and Louis stay alive long enough for it to reach them?

Good but not perfect.

Overall story and narration are great. My only real problem is with the voice characterisation of Louis. When I read rather than listen to these books Louis is measured and dry not harsh and brash. More of a comment than a criticism as I really do enjoy these audiobooks.

Another fantastic book.

Another great story in John Connelly's Charlie Parker series. This time the story is based Louis and Angel, focusing on and giving insight into Louis' history, and an interesting tale about how he became a 'Reaper'; it seemed to also subtly show more about the bond & love between Louis and Angel. Again, as expected, another superb Jeff Harding performance. Thoroughly recommend.

Twisted Plot with all the detail

All the details at every stage and about everyone. It's a shame that Charlie Parker was only an appendix to the character set. Certainly not Connolly's best effort

the humou between Angel and Louis

The Charlie Parker books are designed to be read in order. each book builds and colours in
background storyline.
This book centres on two of the more minor characters with Charlie Parker not appearing until much later. Some reader have expressed their disappointment at this, but the author has taken the advantage of developing the characters of Angel and Louis.
wat I've really enjoyed in this book is the humourous relationship between them both, particularly from Angel.
I highly recommend this book but, please read the books in order, as the overall story develops with each new book.
Enjoy, I haven't come across a duff one yet.
