Summary

It's December, and the Shannon family are returning home to their clifftop mansion near Kinloch for their annual AGM. Shannon International is one of the world's biggest private companies, with tendrils reaching around the globe in computing, banking and mineral resourcing, and it has brought untold wealth and privilege to the family. However, a century ago Archibald Shannon stole the land upon which he built their home, and his descendants have been cursed ever since.

When heavy snow cuts off Kintyre, DCI Jim Daley and DS Brian Scott are assigned to protect their illustrious visitors. As an ancient society emerges from the blizzards, and its creation, the Rat Stone, reveals grisly secrets, ghosts of the past come to haunt the Shannons. As the curse decrees, death is coming. But for whom, and from what?

not so keen on this book

Big fan of Denzil Meryck but difficult to follow unnecessarily crude. Brilliant Narrator

Strange but compelling

I don't agree that this book is totally out of character but it does seem to have been written with a.huge.dollop of the ridiculous! Far fetched to put it bluntly but a good story too.

Better than I expected!

I was apprehensive about this book, purely based on the reviews! I’d loved the first 3 DCI Daley books and was desperately hoping I lived this one too 😂

As always David Monteath nailed the narration, and did the book justice. I actually really enjoyed the story, the right amount of gore and bad language from Brian Scott thrown in!

Give it a go, the story is t the usual clear cut murder, but this kept me wanting to listen to find out until the very end!

Superb narration as usual

Excellent narration, it brings every character to life and I love DS Scott as interpreted, so funny. Not impressed with the story though: for me it was predictable and with too many over the top events. I like the usual characters though, so I’ll move on to the next book in the series.

Tied into the first books enough to retain the feel of the previous books, but loved the story great twists and super entertaining.

Fearfully and Wonderfully written.

Clever plot. Emotional. Not happy with the ending (but in a good way!) 😥 Love these books. Thumbs up!

Love this series

And just hoping this book didn’t end the way it appears to. I love the characters and the storylines. The narration is top notch. Would highly recommend this series of books read in order. I’m off to start the next one.

Far fetched

I've enjoyed the previous novels in this series although I find the level of gore slightly hard to take. The plots have been becoming slightly more bizarre with each book and, sadly, in this fourth outing, were completely ridiculous. Not sure I will bother with any more in this series.
