Spindle Cove is the destination of choice for certain types of well-bred young ladies: The painfully shy, young wives disenchanted with matrimony, and young girls too enchanted with the wrong men; it is a haven for those who live there. Victor Bramwell, the new Earl of Rycliff, knows he doesn't belong here.

Summary
Captain Blackheart leads a simple life of roving the seas, wenching and treasure-hunting. He steers clear of romantic entanglements that could tie him to land. He shouldn't have any trouble keeping his hands off the gently-bred lady he's commissioned to abduct - except his cargo turns out to be feisty and passionate! She'd be a prize worth treasuring, if having her aboard didn't jeopardize everything.
Clara Halton thought the worst loss she could suffer was to be stripped of her family, stricken with consumption, and left to die alone. Then she meets Blackheart. Their attraction is ruinous...and irresistible. When he delivers her like so much plunder, his mission is over - but hers has just begun. She'll force him to acknowledge their connection, even if she must storm his ship to do it!

He is a sailor, she a land lumber they didn't fit,
He add been a commissioned pirate in her majesty's service, during the Napoleonic wars, known across the seas as the infamous Captain Black Heart. He now had been commissioned to collect a widow from America and bring her back to England.
She had been left by her daughter, who had gone to England, in pursuit of capital, and a husband, to bring aid back to her mother. The mother, however, had been diagnosed with consumption, and had sequestered herself in her little cottage, to await a death, that had not as yet sort her out, glad that her daughter was safely away from the contagion that she had expected to take her life.
Okay, I could tell of the electricity around the Captain and the widow. I could tell how once the commission had been fulfilled, neither could forget the other.
No, you need to read this adventure on the high seas, for yourself, so you can laugh and rejoice at the high points and feel sorrow and dismay at the low.
All I will say, is it is a tale worth reading (or listening to via the audiobook).

5 Big Stars
I had the pleasure of being reintroduced to the feisty Clara from 'The Earl's Defiant Wallflower' and the rogue, Capt. Blackheart from 'The Major's Faux Fiancé' where they separately played supporting characters in each of those two earlier books.
I think, so far, this has been the best story in this series. I simply loved the games between them and their total trust of and their continuous support for each other. Both are very strong characters, yet quite different from each other.
Neither of them are that young that their decisions and actions might be considered irresponsible. They know what they are doing and they know exactly how to get what they want and enjoy adventures together.
This story is written so well that I would have been quite happy for it to carry on indefinitely. In fact, I think it would probably make a great TV series or full length movie.
Kudu's to Erica Ridley, the author and Stevie Zimmerman, our narrator, for a job well done!

Even Mother's Can find Love
Would you listen to The Pirate's Tempting Stowaway again? Why?
Definitely - this was a great story
Who was your favorite character and why?
Captain Blackheart (aka Gregory Steele) he tries to be bad but he is so good.
Have you listened to any of Stevie Zimmerman’s other performances before? How does this one compare?
Yes - she does a great job with this entire series
Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?
When Blackheart finds Clara alone in her cabin after she had been abandoned by the whole toen because they though she had consumption
Any additional comments?
The best thing about this story is that it features an older couple (Clara is 39 and has a married daughter). Not only do they find a happily ever after but they have a great time doing it.

The writing was excellent, the characters well developed and the story plot line was unique. I loved both of the main characters from the very beginning. There wasn't any of the angsty, Oh Woe Is Me sorts of themes that we see so often. One of the very best things is that the H/h are both older than usual. I really liked them and the book!

Entertaining
I love pirate stories. A dashing captain; a shy maiden. Oh, wait, make that a not-so-shy widow. The captain's still dashing though.
A great little story in the series. Short but fun.
Production of the audiobook could have been better. It sounded a bit tinny.

Definitely the best in the series!
Any additional comments?
This is definitely the best book in the series. The pirate Blackheart (who we met previously in The Major's Faux Fiancée) is hired by the Earl of Carlisle (who we met in The Earl's Defiant Wallflower) to sail overseas and retrieve Clara Halton, the sickly mother of Carlisle's new wife Grace. Over the course of the rescue and the events that follow, Blackheart finds himself falling for Clara while Clara struggles to choose between adventuring with him or settling down with her daughter and son-in-law.
I enjoyed every bit of Clara's story and kind of wish it had been longer!

Highly recommend the series
Any additional comments?
I really enjoyed this tale of romance Clara and Captain Blackheart. The captain isn't as fearsome as his name suggests. His character comes across very well early in the story when he finds Clara ill and isolated at her home in America. He can be a little bit gruff but he proves to be quite gentlemanly, heroic and has a nice sense of humour. He takes good care of Clara who is very ill at the beginning of the story and he deposits her safely at her parent's doorstep as promised.
A reader unfamiliar with previous titles in the series might find Clara's reunion with her parents, after so many years apart, to be resolved at breakneck speed and without much elaboration. You really need to read her daughter, Grace's story, in 'The Earl's Defiant Wallflower,' to enjoy the complete picture.
The Pirate's Tempting Stowaway is a fast paced, humorous, romantic story that will take you away for a few delightfully escapist hours.
I voluntarily received a review copy
