Summary

An instant New York Times best seller

The untold stories behind The Office, one of the most iconic television shows of the 21st century, told by its creators, writers, and actors.

When did you last hang out with Jim, Pam, Dwight, Michael, and the rest of Dunder Mifflin? It might have been back in 2013, when the series finale aired...or it might have been last night, when you watched three episodes in a row. But either way, long after the show first aired, it’s more popular than ever, and fans have only one problem - what to watch, or listen to, next.

Fortunately, Rolling Stone writer Andy Greene has that answer. In his brand-new oral history, The Office: The Untold Story of the Greatest Sitcom of the 2000s, Greene will take listeners behind the scenes of their favorite moments and characters. Greene gives us the true inside story behind the entire show, from its origins on the BBC through its impressive nine-season run in America, with in-depth research and exclusive interviews. Fans will get the inside scoop on key episodes from "The Dundies" to "Threat Level Midnight" and "Goodbye, Michael", including behind-the-scenes details like the battle to keep it on the air when NBC wanted to pull the plug after just six episodes and the failed attempt to bring in James Gandolfini as the new boss after Steve Carell left, spotlighting the incredible, genre-redefining show created by the family-like team, who together took a quirky British import with dicey prospects and turned it into a primetime giant with true historical and cultural significance.

Hilarious, heartwarming, and revelatory, The Office gives fans and pop culture buffs a front-row seat to the phenomenal sequence of events that launched The Office into wild popularity, changing the face of television and how we all see our office lives for decades to come.

Picture this, it's like a cold open to The Office

This is enjoyable trivia, although I don't think it would be as relatable to anyone that hasn't seen a few episodes at least, or who's unfamiliar with the characters. Listening to this feels like what i imagine it would be like to be seated at the writer's table, throwing ideas around.

The book Office Ladies is just completely ripping off

Fantastic book chronicling the entire run of the office. Really interesting behind the scenes info from basically everyone involved.

My only gripe is some of the voice casting, particularly the old man who does a few voices, including Ed Helms. Overall the voice cast do a good job of matching tone and speech patterns of the people they’re reading quotes from without going into an impression. But the guy doing Ed Helms and some others just didn’t do it for me at all.

You soon get past the voices!

The book is fascinating for all office fans and it's nice to hear a book that isn't just saying that everything was wonderful all the time. That's not to say I didn't. Enjoy those other books but this feels a bit more like a fuller picture.

Yes the voices are off putting at first as we all know what those people sound like but you soon get past that when hearing the stories behind your favourite show!

The narration is horrible

They read out each person giving the quote every 5 seconds. It completely distracts from the story and makes it an awful audiobook.

The Office. An American Workplace

If you're a die-hard Dunder Mifflin fan, as I am, then you will really enjoy this book. It is a brilliant account of how the American version of The Office was conceived and the behind the scenes stories of all nine seasons. There are really interesting contributions from the cast, writers and production staff. It will give you a whole new insight into this fantastic world of #TheOffice

Comprehensive & entertaining. I loved it.

I must've watched the entire series well over 20 times, and this book still managed to take me into so many hidden spots within The Office. Andy managed to cover all the bases and bring out stories, memories, thoughts, and feelings out of the heart of the series, the cast, and the crew.

You'll surely find out everything you need to know about the series and you'll hear about it from the horse's mouth. I can't think of any member that was left out, really.

I could go on and on about the book. The bottom line is, if you like The Office, you'll rejoice reading/listening to this and you'll learn a lot about it. Like I said, I have watched ever episode dozens of times, I have read and listened to every interview online, watched every Blu-ray extra, listened to Angela and Jenna's podcast... and there was still a lot of interesting stuff. And as everything's told as if it was this massive round table, it's truly entertaining and fun to listen to.

If you're a fan, you must have to listen to this at least once.

Office fans everywhere will just love it!

Any true fan of The Office will love this candid and honest memoir of the 9 series they created. It takes a little while to accept actors voices and not those of the people themselves and of course you wish they said what the really mean at times and not something cryptic -
But it keeps you entertained, enlightened, engaged and in true Office style, wanting more x
