Summary

When a body is found draped over Swanage’s iconic Globe monument, DCI Lesley Clarke is called in. A message points to the motive: "Go home."

Is this a hate crime? Or something closer to home?

Lesley must find the killer before he or she strikes again, all while dealing with a mutiny in her team and political pressure from her boss.

At the same time, a local journalist has been investigating the death of Lesley's predecessor—and claims to have key information. Wary of involving her team, Lesley brings in her old colleague Zoe Finch to help.

Will Lesley come out of this case with her reputation, her team, and her career intact?

The Monument Murders is the fourth installment in the best-selling Dorset Crime series, essential listening for everyone who loves Dorset…and gripping crime novels.

Not quite as good

Like other reviewers I felt the story was rushed towards the end. The backstory and characters deserve better!
Whilst Jan narrated some of it well, why does she sound so mournful when announcing the chapters ? And really Ger ain’t not Ger eint! That’s a bit of an error easily corrected!
Will persevere with next book.

Good story ended too soon

This instalment for the series wasn’t as good as the previous, more of a catch up to what’s next(hopefully). I felt it ended abruptly and not sure if it moved the storyline forward enough to merit one book. Will try with the next. Not bothered by the accents,

a hundred chapters -I would have expected more

this is the fourth book and I have read this many because I live in Dorset and like hearing the places referenced. However, I will not use credits on any more books. this story was left hanging, once whodunnit was revealed. all the missing detail is no doubt coming in another book, but I am afraid this book was too short I see from newsletters that the author is prolific but is not offering value As previous reviews have suggested, the narrator has a bit of a grating voice which I have ignored APART from her saying 'chapter xx' and with having to hear those over A 100 times, I can't do that again most chapters are a few minutes long I suppose I feel disheartened having just listened to a Hilary Mantel which is quite different if you are looking for something to put on in the background then fine, but as something of substance you'll be disappointed

Great story

would prefer the narrative without accents, especially the Brummie accent, not a good one
