Masterful as always - farewell Lucinda Riley

As I was listening to the last 35 minutes of this amazing book I heard of the very sad passing of Lucinda Riley. What a gifted writer of fiction. I’ve travelled the world with her. She will be missed by all who loved to read her work. May she Rest In Peace. May her family be granted all the courage and strength they need at this time. Thank you Lucinda.

Simply the best!

I have read all the other missing sisters books on my Kindle this is the first one I have listened to on audible. It was so well narrated and being Irish myself and living in England for many years I fully understood the history. This story is certainly different to the others and was wonderful to see all the sisters united in their search for Mary who finally ended up in Ireland.
You do have to have read the previous novels as this ties up some threads for those books. I was disappointed that I now have to wait till 2022 to find out Pa Salt’s journey.
Having read all Lucinda Riley’s books now she has an amazing talent putting together a personal story linking to the facts of the time involved. Her attention to detail Is second to none!
I know I have a waiting game to hear about Pa Salt’s life and his involvement with each of the adopted sisters ….. I can’t wait!

Cross about book 8 and poor narration

I, like many, have been waiting for a long time for the conclusion to this 7 book series. Ah no, it’s now an 8 book series. Sorry, Lucinda Riley, I’m a fan but this shameless money making is quite offensive to fans. There was plenty that could’ve been cut out of this rambling, directionless book to make room to finish the series as expected. And, it apparently matters to the author to get the right narrator. The terrible antipodean accent and slow drawl of these narrators missed the mark. And why was Tiggy the only sister with a (bad) French accent? Weren’t all the sisters brought up together? Consistency would’ve been good. I’m quite disappointed.

Absolutely a dream of a book

There is nothing I can say which is negative apart from….it ended!!

This not a book I’d usually go to but I fancied something different.
I’m glad that I did.

I can’t wait the next book to arrive and follow the story.

There were times I cried and times I laughed. Thankfully I was alone or my family would have thought I was a crazy person

And incredible story, highly recommend it

Excellent

I have loved this book just as much as the other six in the series and I can't wait for the book about Pa Salt . The depth of the stories are marvellous, the amount of background history is fantastic. If I have a criticism it is that I find it a shame that the same people cannot be employed to read the particular sister they have been as a main character.
In 'The Sun Sister' the sister had a rich black American voice, that was so relaxing. In 'The Missing Sister' the same character was very English and in some of the other books she had a French accent! The only thing that spoiled the almost perfect books for me.

Needed a major edit…

I have previously really enjoyed Lucinda Riley’s series but found this far too long, drawn out and frankly a bit boring. The narration was engaging however but I just felt like this was a filler book that didn’t really move us much further along from the previous book. Disappointed.

Fine but frustrating

The storyline was solid but I just didn't engage with the historical subject matter. Perhaps it's because I'm British and Ireland's not exotic enough! I was interested enough to listen to the end though.

However, the biggest disappointment was that the book did not conclude the saga of the Seven Sisters!! And I have to wait another 15 months or so for Part 8.

EDIT:I have just discovered that the author passed away recently. I'm sad that I might never find out about Pa Salt but more so I'm grateful for the lovely books I have read and listened to in the last 2 years by this author. She write captivating stoires.

Poor accents and storyline

This was just a filler book, it had no good storyline and the reason the main character left was really an anticlimax. The narrators accents were so bad, especially the Ma one.

Disappointing Narration

I was really looking forward to this audio to complete the series. However, being a New Zealander myself. it grated every time the New Zealand-born characters spoke in an Australian accent and used Aussie slang. New Zealanders do not speak like that.

I enjoyed the storyline but the ending disappointed me. I must now wait for another book for the final reveal..

I was very disapointed.

I have read many of this author's books and the complete "Sisters" series. Not only did this book just end with telling that another book would be out in 2022, I did not care for the story or the main character. She was very inmature. I do not expect I will waste my money on the next book.

Mix of History & Fiction, but drags a bit

I love the Seven Sisters series & was so happy to see this one appear in Audible. I love the mix of History with the fictional characters life! I'm addicted & need to see this through to the end to finally know who PA Salt is, but this one dragged a bit for me... the character Mary (also known as Merry?) was not my favorite & I was so annoyed with her by the end of the book. It felt like this book dragged on a bit. I loved how the others were structured. Hope the next book isn't as annoying. But I will anxiously await the next book in the series!

Performance

I have loved this whole series but this performance has disappointed me as this is not read with a New Zealand accent, the narrator has an Australian accent. I'm fond of Australians of course but we do have quite different accents. This was hard to shake off but the performance was well done otherwise.

The best book in a stellar series

I enjoyed Merope’s story immensely. Lucinda Riley has a beautiful way of weaving fascinating stories together. I am so sad to hear that she recently died.

What!

I almost returned the book after first couple of chapters because the New Zealand accent (my country) was so badly done. But I got over my hissy fit and kept going. The rest was so well done I forgave the narrator. (Mostly but if you ever do a NZ accent again, please get voice coaching) . Great story, totally engrossing, and as it ended all I could say was Oh **** I wanted the next bit straight away.

not worth waiting for

I have listened to all 7 Sisters books. Until the very end of the 7th I thought that was all there was. Several could have been combined together as they were dragged out and repeated over and over. This one was the worst. Could have easily been told in half the book and the other have devoted to Pa's story. What a crummy way to sell more books. I will not be purchasing the 8th book. I will never read or listen to another book by this author.

No, I do not want to wait for another year!!

The story as always is will written with little lead ins that keep you reading, but the end says the next part will not come out till fall next year. We waited a long time for this part. It doesn't seem fair!!!!
