They were kind, gracious, and shared the beauty of Ravenwood, their grand country estate, by hosting lavish parties for the entire countryside. Summary
The number one best 1700s historical fiction (Listopia)
This is the second audiobook in the fascinating series about the lives of the beautiful Beth Cunningham, her family, and friends.
Britain moves ever closer to the 1745 rebellion and the impending attempt to restore the Stuarts to the British throne. With no other options available to her, Beth marries the effete and tedious social butterfly Sir Anthony Peters.
She resigns herself to a future of formal parties and dismal social gatherings whilst accompanying a husband who is both tiresome and physically repellent to her. But she consoles herself with the thought that if she is not to know love, then, at least she will have a secure and comfortable life. It may be uneventful, but she will be free of her brother.
The ink on the marriage contract is hardly dry. However, when Beth makes a shocking discovery, it is one that turns her world upside down and throws her whole future into doubt once more. Almost immediately, she must make a decision.
Will she opt for the safe but dreary life her husband wishes her to lead, or will she fight for a life of passion, adventure, and excitement, knowing that in doing so, she risks not only her own life but the lives of those she loves?
Join the rebellion of one woman and her fight for freedom in the Jacobite Chronicles.

Jacobite's Rule!
Loved it! Bought this one straight away after listing to the first in the series 'The Mask of Duplicity' and I can't wait for the next one. Not sure if next one is available on audible yet though so might have to read it first but once on audible I will be buying it. The storyline and narrators are excellent. You are transported back to the eighteenth century with all its historical/ political intrigues. I listened to the last 6 chapters whilst driving home to Cumbria from Aberdeen and it was like watching a movie. The narrators bring the characters to life and are so talented - the accents are flawless : aristocratic English, working class mancunian, German, Italian, French and last but not least that lovely Scottish lilt. Julia has created a wonderful world and amazing set of characters. The plot keeps you wanting more at the end of every chapter and every book so far. Well worth it.

The best narration ever!
The Mask Revealed is a wonderful book! It has great content and an interesting story line. The best part, though, is the dual narration of Rosalyn Landor and Will M Watt. I can't believe how many different characters Will can play in one book - fantastic! If these two would narrate every book this would be a happy world!

Audiobook perfection!
This second book in the series is even better than the first! Julia is a splendid writer. The history, characters, and even the landscapes and cities come to life. She has obviously done some very deep research into this time in history and has woven real historical figures into this incredible tapestry based in Jacobite history. These characters are extremely well developed and continue to evolve over time to the degree that I have been repeatedly surprised (in a good way) with the direction of the story. I found myself truly lost in the story, moving between suspense, intrigue, excitement, sadness, frustration, and the deep-complex love story at the heart of the story.
Narration: Absolutely beautifully performed narration! Will Watt is one of my favorite performers, but the duet-style narration is seamless in this book. Excellent performances for all characters by both Rosalyn and Will.
I would definitely recommend this to anyone who enjoys beautifully written historical romance and seamless duet-style narration featuring flawless English, French, and Scottish accents!

Excellent! If you like Outlander, this is for you!!
Such a great listen. I couldn’t put it down. Though the story is completely different and there’s no time slip/dual time lines, I assure you if you liked Outlander you’ll like The Jacobite Chronicles (but you’re must read Mask of Duplicity: Jacobite Chronicles Book 1 first to understand this book—Book 1 is excellent as well). Wonderful characters. Excellent writing and attention to historical detail. Great narration. A verra bonny Highlander and a lovely Sassenach. Great overall story taking place in a fascinating time in history. A wonderful love story with the tension of attraction and the adventure of the times. Highly recommended!

I ADORE THIS SERIES
I bought the series in print even though I know I want to listen to it in audio! I couldn’t wait for the audio versions to come out and HAD to move along in the lives of these wonderfully likable characters! The story themselves are excellent but the PHENOMENAL narration is beyond perfect! Rosalyn Landor has been for years and years one of the best narrators you can hear! She can take a mediocre story and make it still wonderful! With an already great book it’s a slice of heaven. This is the first time I’ve heard Will M. Watt and I can’t think of a single male narrator that could have portrayed the duality of the mincing English Baron and powerful Scottish Chieftain better. They both also make each character unique so it’s easy to tell who is speaking.
It can be tricky using more than a single narrator to tell the story but this is one that is done perfectly. I highly recommend getting these books in audio. Its been like a movie playing in my head! The scenes are so well written and read that one can easily picture everything that is going on. Though I’ve moved ahead with the storyline in print I will still jump on each book as it comes out on audio. It’s been a fabulous treat to listen them.

This book is even better than Book 1. Well done Julia Brannan!
Intelligent writing, historical details and continued building of characters. It reveals a few great surprises and adds other secrets to continue the story to the next book.
Be advised that this series does need to be read in order, as the story develops directly from book to book.
You can’t have a better narration than this, it is artfully edited and feature with two of the best narrators for audiobooks.

I have read the Jacobite Chronicles and I'm now enjoying the audio books. Both Rosalyn Landor and Will M. Watt are wonderful and bring the characters to life. Ms. Brennan has throughly researched this period in Scotland 's history and writes a wonderful read of historical fiction.
