Story
A cottage on the coast on a windy evening. Under a pool of yellow light, two figures face each other across a kitchen table. A man and a cat. The story about to be related is so unusual yet so terrifyingly plausible that it demands to be told in a single sitting. The man clears his throat, and leans forward, expectant. 'Shall we begin?' says the cat….

Unbeknownst to Osborne, driving down to Devon to interview Angela in her country retreat, the sleepy magazine has been taken over by new management.

Story
There is another 1985, somewhere in the could-have-been, where the Crimean war still rages, dodos are regenerated in home-cloning kits and everyone is deeply disappointed by the ending of 'Jane Eyre'. In this world there are no jet-liners or computers, but there are policemen who can travel across time, a Welsh republic, a great interest in all things literary - and a woman called Thursday Next. In this utterly original and wonderfully funny first novel, Fforde has created a fiesty, loveable heroine and a plot of such richness and ingenuity that it will take your breath away.

Sequel and...
I saw that this book was related to another, but as it wasn't listed as a series, I figured it wasn't a direct sequel... it most definitely is. You *can* follow it, but only because it recaps the first book essentially spoiling that for you should you be interested in it all.
Unfortunately, I also found the book kind of annoying. I realise it's very popular so I may be alone in this, but it kind of seems like a cat book written by a dog person. It makes lots of jokes supporting the 'cats really couldn't care less about you' stereotype, which I assume almost anyone who's actually lived with a cat knows not to be true. Basing humour on untruths kind of makes jokes fall flat for me. Wanted to like it, but unfortunately didn't.

Puuuuuurfect!
What did you love best about The Lunar Cats?
I loved that Mike Grady did the narration again. I love that I can use all of the same adjectives to describe this book as I did "Cat out of Hell". I enjoyed every single word of this book and in fact am listening to the series over again.
It is the most unique series I have ever listened to and I truly hope there is a third book on the way soon!
Who was your favorite character and why?
They are all my favorite.
Which character – as performed by Mike Grady – was your favorite?
Wiggy- the part where he is talking to Alec about how cute the kitten is, idk, it almost killed me

Love it, love it, love it !!
This is the second in the series and I enjoyed it just as much as the first for the same reasons. I'm so excited that it seems a third may be set up and I just can't wait (although it seems I will have to). I find myself going back 30 seconds or so several times throughout so that I can listen to certain parts again because they are so clever and funny. Thank you Lynne Truss for this amazing series and these wonderful characters.

hilarious
If you could sum up The Lunar Cats in three words, what would they be?
Funny, strange, unique
What did you like best about this story?
What I liked best about this story was how strangely unique it was. There were some hilarious lines that I had to bookmark to play for people because the lines coupled with the extremely proper sounding British narrator just made it.
Have you listened to any of Mike Grady’s other performances before? How does this one compare?
I've never listened to Mike Grady, but I will look through his narrations because I really enjoyed his performance.
Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?
Several moments in this book stood out for various reasons.
Any additional comments?
When I chose this book, I didn't read the description clearly enough to realize this was a sequel. However, the story stood on its own and i was able to follow it. Now I'm going to go out of order and read the first one.
