Potential
The storyline has real potential but it’s to PG I don’t know if it was advertised for young adults but it is .
It’s almost written like a soap opera.. the narrator sounds like a female Stephen hawking when setting the scenes

Blow me away
I didn’t know what to expect when I started this story, what I found between the pages was a very high tech story that held my interest from start to finish. I honestly didn’t want the it to end. The author lays out a plot that is intents, exciting and thrilling that makes you blood pump as you are holding your breath waiting to see the outcome. It has been awhile since an author could hold my interest and not let it go.
I thought the narrator did a really good job, she shows true emotion, with lovey character voice. You always know who is talking, what they are feeling as well as their pain and sorrow. She puts excitement into her voice giving you the thrill, danger, love pulling you in giving you a highly entertaining listen that kept me spellbound. There were no repeating of words, no volume, the only issue I have was when she announced the chapters, it did not move smooth, the chapters where done in a different voice that really set the story off, it took me a few seconds to get back into the story. It should have been done in a more natural voice which would have give the story a nice flow. Beside that the narrator pulled me in taking me way making me feel I was right there seeing the story before my eyes.
I loved the plot, the author pulls you in giving you a compelling story that you don’t want to put down. The story is believable giving you a look at what the future might hold. Everyone is afraid of what the future will bring, the heartache and pain as well as the turmoil. The characters has soul, meaning, each has a place, a role, it broke my heart when friends, family, love ones die all for one cause bring our nation back together as one. Taking out the power hungry who want to rule the USA, there is a little of everything between these pages. So many lives lots so we can become One Nation Under God taking back what others have take from them. It truly was a compelling listen that I truly didn’t want to end.

The Legacy
Excellent story!I really enjoyed it. Rebecca gives up her family and friends to do something very controversial to save the future.This is after WWIII and Mr Dane declares himself President.She marries the maniac in chief to get close to fight him. Lynn Devereux was a fabulous narrator. I was given this free review copy audiobook at my request and have voluntarily left this review.

The story really sucked me in. Great narration
I enjoyed Lynn Devereux's narration of this so much I kinda forgot I was listening to one person as I got sucked in so much. That's a great feeling.
I really got sucked into this story. The world they are living in is well thought out and crikey has much more depth to it than you think at first. Watching the characters as they grew and changed and built relationships was great. They have a lot of depth and hidden aspects to them. I really didn't see some of the twists coming which is great. A great first book, I can't wait to see how it carries on from here.

Well written and very close to home politically
This is the second book I have read /listed to by melissa delport. I was first introduced to her work when I heard the clock keeper. Whilst both books are complete different they are equally as well written in their own rights . The character development within this novel was completely on point and I was quite easily drawn into the story. It is very close to home in terms with how the world of today is politically and completely believable that WW3 could happen in reality. I think this is another reason why I felt engaged from the start. The book had a good pace to it and kept me interested throughout . I love the fact that there is a good mix of both sci fi and romance without any taking over . in a sense I see this as being in a genre of its own. I was given this book by the author /narrator in return for an honest and unbiased review

Wow, just wow
My god, when this ended I was heart broken. I almost begged for more. Im not going to give any spoilers just know that this audio book is amazing, everytime I listen to a Melissa Delport book I think WOW she can't get any better, and what do you know?! The next one is even better!
Seriously though, listen to this, you won't be disappointed, and that's a pinky promise!

Excellent story, brilliant narration!
I was a little apprehensive about picking this one up as I’ve been well and truly overfed with dystopian, YA heroine stories and I only did because I very much enjoyed a previous book by this author. To my absolute delight this was excellent - believable, well crafted and with an underlying sense of menace I couldn’t quite shake (we all know there’s an Eric Dane waiting in the shadows should a similar scenario ever arise). The narration by Lynn Devereux was brilliant and just a joy to listen to, she really brought the characters to life and sucked me into the story.
A very nice detour from my usual fare and I can’t wait to listen to the next one.

Great listen
A dystopian novel set after World War III where the world is looking for a leader. Step up Eric Dane who everyone looked up to and believed, however is his truth really the truth as he wants the population to believe. The resistance would disagree and at its heart Eric's wife Rebecca who leads the struggle to free the people from his rule.
With a great cast of characters who come together to fight for the cause and some surprising twists, this book leads you on a great adventure and keeps you listening to the end. I'm looking forward to seeing how the story progresses in book two.

Absolutely Loved this book!
Wow! I loved every minute of this adventure and can’t wait for the next instalment. It took me back to reading as a teenager for some reason. I don’t know if it was the pure adventure of it or the freshness of a new genre for me or just the style of Ms Delports‘ writing but it was a roller coaster ride. I loved the good guys and not the bad guys. But they were all there inside my mind as clear as day.

The Legacy
The Legacy kept me hooked from the very beginning to the very end! The storyline was incredibly compelling with unbelievable quantities of action packed into a single novel. Looking forward to Book 2.

Exciting Story
The Legacy had an interesting concept that grabbed me right away and that was a World War III occurring and what the future looks like. The story was well paced and never felt slow. Characters were well developed and I was not surprised by any of them. I though the idea of the husband and wife was interesting and the other relationships that each of them have with the other characters were well written and thought out. I felt like I was listening to something original and unique for the genre.
Lynn Devereux had a lovely and easy voice to listen to. Her voices were consistent, but I would have liked a little more distinction in some of the voices.

I love books with a strong and smart female MC. Beck is a strong, but she is superfluous, and her actions are emotional and just get people killed. I can't help, but I think that the story could have been over in seconds and the end story would have been the same. I am hoping that there is deeper plot that carries over in book 2 I will update if it is worth the buy.

The perfect binge read!
I enjoyed this well written story. The characters were well developed and behaved exactly as I expected as I got to know them. I loved that it was relatively clean. The few sex scenes were tastefully handled and though there were a couple of curse words they were not over used or inappropriate.
I enjoyed the premise of the book, with the powers of the future being genetic treatments with limitations and risks rather than all encompassing super powers. It did feel that this book was written as a series and divided into books when the series was complete. I personally did not have a problem with this because I truly love serial stories. I absolutely loved the narration in the audiobook. She was perfect for this project. Her character voices were quite consistent. I hope to get the next book very very soon.

Loved it!
The story grabbed my attention and kept me engaged throughout the book. The narrator did a fantastic job bringing out this story. The only issue I had was at the end when the heroine doesn't know when to stop and caused a lot of unnecessary deaths/problems. It stressed me out so much I wanted to take away a star in the review. But after I finished and thought about it I wanted to keep my 5 star rating because the storyline was very interesting throughout the book. Can't wait to see what happens next in this series.

So much drama ...
This was a character driven story that injected a whole lot of relationship/romance style drama that is just not in my wheelhouse. I was hoping for more of an action/adventure thriller than the emotional self-flagellation that drives the plot conflicts here. My fault for glossing over the "love and passion" in the author's blurb ... however, because I have difficulty connecting with characters that focus on interpersonal drama, I enlisted my daughter's opinion as well to be fair. Unfortunately, outside of the relationship conflicts, there really wasn't much story left. The World Building was fairly standard for a post-apocalyptic world that was not as interesting as I had hoped for; in addition, it was almost exclusively in the beginning of the story in a series of "info-dumps" that were exacerbated by the nearly emotionless cadence of the narrator. I felt like I was listening to a class lecture. The characters themselves seem formulaic with little to no growth by the end of the story ... nothing very memorable.
Performance: I am not a fan of the First Person POV; but if anything can make it work, it would be as an audiobook. Unfortunately, that is not the case here. The story was delivered with minimal inflection that made it too easy to tune out. This made it more difficult to tell which character was speaking, which also made it difficult to appreciate any dialog that tries to develop/support the relationship conflicts. In short, there just was not enough energy to keep me fully engaged in the story.

[ *** ] Good Read - Solid story with a 'good' ending, or has some other redeeming feature. I connected enough with the characters/world to read the entire series. Most of the books I read for fun are here.
[ ** ] Okay Read - Suitable for a brief, afternoon escape ... if you don't mind the predictability, lack of character growth, and/or typical genre tropes. Not very memorable. May only appeal to a niche group of readers (a lot of 'classics' end up here). Any issues with the story/characters are offset by some other aspect that I enjoyed. Recommended for some (YMMV).
[ * ] Bad Read - I didn't connect with the story/character(s) at all; significant aspects of this story irritated me enough that I might not have even finished it. Series was abandoned. Not recommended.

love this book!
such a great dystopian. it's fast paced and has everything I love in a dystopian....tough leading lady, good premise, and romance. I have read this book, so when I had an opportunity to listen, I grabbed it!
the narrator is ok. I had to play around with the speed to get her where I liked her. 1.3 for me.
