Summary

August 1940. In a quiet village in rural Kent, the enemy is at the gates...

The Battle of Britain rages and Faye Bright encounters the ghost of a pilot who won't give up the fight. Before she can help him, Faye is whisked away to join a motley crew of witches to perform a top secret ritual on the White Cliffs of Dover that could repel the invaders.

But there's a catch. The ritual must be executed in the nuddy. Mrs Teach threatens mutiny. Miss Charlotte is intrigued. And Faye wants to call the whole thing off when she suspects there's a spy in their midst.

It's up to Faye Bright to uncover the traitor, all while dealing with the ghost haunting Ivy Barn who may hold the key to the truth. But first, Faye has to learn to fly...

For fans of Lev Grossman and Terry Pratchett comes the third novel in this delightful series of war, mystery and a little bit of magic...

Loved this, the best in the series yet. The cast of characters is great and I can't wait to spend more time with them.

I'm hooked

I searched for a fantasy / magical series and came across the Witches of Woodville. Three books down in quick succession and I just can't get enough. Such endearing characters, and slightly spooky yet lighthearted stories. Love the WWII detail. 4th book still to listen to; I really hope there are more in the pipeline.

the Witches of Woodville just keeps building!

The further adventures of the residents of Woodville, but now things have escalated, with the Battle of Britain raging a threat of a full-blown invasion is on the horizon. Faye and friend’s journeys continue to deliver engrossing tales, although by now Faye is used to her life being in danger, she has to deal with spies, murderers, plus how to navigate the right thing when such stakes are at play. More great writing by Mr Stay, the Witches of Woodville just keeps building!

Magic, history, war, witches...

Is this another Witches of Woodville adventure I see before me? Indeed it is!

And what the blimmin' heck is that? A cosy fantasy convergence! Magic, history, war, witches...

Is this the best chance you have at a top notch read? I rather think it is.

Mark Stay gets even better...

I'm well invested in the Witches of Woodville books. They are filled with charm and humour, and the series gets better with each book. A wonderful world of cakes and tea, and British quirks. I read it grinning all the way through and there are many laugh outloud moment. Excellent stuff! More please...
